A group representing the Network of Peace Journalists has issued an appeal to Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, urging him to resurrect “Operation Yaki” as a measure to address the security challenges afflicting the state. The group’s national president, Ibrahima Yakubu, conveyed this request through a statement released in Kaduna on Sunday.
Yakubu emphasized the importance of reviving “Operation Yaki” as a crucial step in tackling the internal security issues within the state, similar to the approach employed during the tenure of the former governor and Vice President of Nigeria, Namadi Mohammed Sambo.
He stressed that empowering “Operation Yaki” would substantially reduce various security concerns, such as phone theft, activities of groups like ‘Yan Sara-Soka, ethno-religious conflicts, and other forms of security threats that undermine peace and unity in the state.
Yakubu also acknowledged the commendable efforts of the military and paramilitary forces operating in the state, while encouraging affluent individuals to support the government by providing necessary resources and tools for enhancing security.
