The Bauchi State Government has urged the members of the state task force on primary healthcare to unite and work towards creating a more inclusive, accessible, and high-quality primary healthcare system in alignment with the administration’s steadfast commitment to the well-being of its residents.
This directive came from the State’s Deputy Governor, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, who also serves as the chairman of the task force, during their quarterly government meeting held in his office.
Jatau emphasized the task force’s unwavering dedication to enhancing primary healthcare services in the state. He highlighted the primary responsibilities of the task force, which include ensuring improvements, transparency, accountability, and rigorous oversight of primary healthcare service delivery within the state. These objectives are to be achieved through partnerships with development organizations and other donor agencies.
The deputy governor noted that the state government’s focus on improving the accessibility and quality of primary healthcare services has yielded significant results. These efforts have led to a reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates, the effective control of contagious diseases, and an increase in immunization coverage throughout the state.
Jatau expressed his gratitude to the task force members for their tireless efforts and commitment to this cause, recognizing their pivotal role in shaping the direction of primary healthcare in Bauchi State. He stressed the importance of continuous assessment and evaluation of their efforts to identify areas for improvement.
He urged the task force to assist in key areas of priority, such as strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure, ensuring the availability of essential drugs and equipment, and investing in the training and development of healthcare workers. These steps are essential for achieving the government’s healthcare goals and transforming the primary healthcare landscape in Bauchi State.
