Residents of Kogi East Senatorial District gathered in Anyigba, demonstrating their unwavering support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Usman Ododo. They pledged to play a crucial role in the upcoming governorship election on November 11, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining unity within the state.

Prominent Igala indigenes, including influential stakeholders from various political parties such as the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC), publicly switched their allegiance to the APC at the Kogi East Senatorial District Rally. They were joined by other notable Igala sons and daughters.

The enthusiastic show of support during the rally was described as unprecedented in the history of election campaigns in Kogi East.

The Igala community, in its pledge of support for the APC, expressed their determination to ensure the continuity of the progressive leadership under Governor Yahaya Bello, which they view as inclusive and development-oriented, with no room for ethnic-based political agendas.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the Kogi APC Governorship Campaign Council, Shaibu Abubakar Audu, emphasized the party’s focus on the “Kogi Agenda” and its commitment to the state’s development and prosperity. He highlighted the importance of unity in Kogi and the drive to provide job opportunities for the youth through an agricultural revolution.

The Chairman of the APC in Kogi State, Abdullahi Bello, expressed his satisfaction with the overwhelming turnout and the energy displayed by the people of Kogi East. He urged them to maintain their momentum to ensure a resounding victory in the upcoming election.

Senator Jibrin Echocho, the representative of Kogi East in the National Assembly, called on all Igala people who have not yet joined the APC to embrace the party, emphasizing that elections are determined by party structures and the achievements of Governor Bello serve as a solid foundation for victory.

Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Edward Onoja, urged voters to prioritize continuity over sentiments, emphasizing that elections revolve around political parties rather than tribe, religion, or region.

Governor Yahaya Bello cautioned against ethnic politics and emphasized the progress and unity that have been achieved during his tenure. He highlighted the importance of fairness, equity, and justice in governing the state.

In his speech, the APC Governorship Candidate, Usman Ododo, stated that his aspiration is centered around the people, progress, and unity of the state. He emphasized the need for unity, development, and prosperity.

The event was marked by the official welcoming of defectors from the PDP, SDP, and other political parties to the APC.
