Abuja National Mosque Management Denies False Reports Of Demolition Approval By FCT Minister....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

On Friday, October 20, the top management of the Abuja National Mosque expressed their displeasure with and refuted social media reports that alleged Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike had sanctioned a partial demolition of the monument.
The Mosque’s leadership called on Muslim faithful to disregard these reports, describing them as the work of troublemakers intent on sowing religious discord and tarnishing the image of the minister.
During a recent visit to the FCT Minister, the Mosque’s board, led by its chairman, Etsu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, sought clarification regarding the status of their plots, numbers 63 and 99, in light of the administration’s efforts to recover ground rent debts. The Minister warmly received them and approved their requests.

Wike extended the three-month ultimatum for religious groups, recognizing their financial limitations and dependency on donations. He emphasized that the extension was not targeted at any specific group and expressed his commitment to fair treatment of all faiths, recalling past baseless accusations during his time as Governor of Rivers State.
The National Mosque’s Director of Finance and Administration, Ambassador Haliu Shuaib, along with the Imam, Dr. Muhammad Kabir Adam, stated, “The Mosque is, hereby, debunking the news of partial demolition of the National Mosque and wishes to set the records straight.” They further explained the positive outcomes of their meeting with the Minister and emphasized that there was never any mention of the demolition of any part of the National Mosque.
The Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) also confirmed that the Minister had not been briefed on the status of the mosque’s land and gave the FCDA 24 hours to provide information and compensate the mosque for the portion of its undeveloped land affected by a road interchange.
This explanation aims to clarify the situation and dispel the rumors surrounding the alleged National Mosque demolition.

This leadership change comes shortly after the August 15 governorship poll and follows a period of intense scrutiny, with various political actors and civil society organizations having accused the command of bias in handling sensitive political matters leading up to the election.
In light of this, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has tasked the new commissioner with the critical mission of restoring public trust and ensuring strict impartiality in policing across the state as it navigates post-election tensions. During a courtesy visit in Osogbo shortly after Zungura assumed office, Governor Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, urged the new CP to reorganize the command, improve police-community relations, and take decisive steps to correct behaviors that have led to perceptions of partisanship within the force.
“I therefore have specific requests as part of our efforts to consolidate peace and state reconciliation: Let us rebuild public trust in the police. You must make deliberate efforts to remove many areas of current police conduct that paint it as partisan and anti-people,” Governor Adeleke stated.
