Commencement Of Home Delivery Service For Nigerian Passports Scheduled For February 2024 By The Federal Government....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Federal Government has unveiled plans to initiate a home delivery service for Nigerian passports, eliminating the need for applicants to queue at immigration offices across the country. This initiative is set to commence in February 2024.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, made this announcement during the opening ceremony of the University Of Lagos’ International Week, themed ‘Breaking the Borders of Partnership,’ on Monday.

Tunji-Ojo explained that by January of the upcoming year, Nigerians will be able to complete their passport application process online. Furthermore, starting in February, the government will collaborate with various stakeholders to deliver passports to applicants’ homes, offices, or other preferred locations.

He stated, “This means that Nigerians will no longer need to wait for more than two weeks to receive their passports. By January next year, the application process will be accessible online, and by February, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, Nigerians will have their passports delivered to their chosen destinations, including homes and offices.”

This initiative will also extend to visa applications, with the government deploying technology to streamline the entire process. Additionally, plans are underway to establish 12 more visa application centers globally.

Tunji-Ojo acknowledged the issue of identity number duplication in Nigeria, citing instances such as the Bank Verification Number (BVN), international passport, National Identification Number (NIN), and SIM card registration. To address this challenge, he revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the harmonization of these identity numbers, emphasizing that data harmonization will enhance the integrity of travel documents.

“Tinubu Finally Approves Posting of 65 Nigerian Ambassadors”.

“Identity is who we are, what we are, and what we live for. But today, what we have is a duplication of our registration. We have the BVN in the bank, the international passport, the NIN, SIM card registration by telecoms, and so on, all of which request your data. The integrity of our travel documents must be restored through the harmonization of our data,” Tunji-Ojo explained.

He also emphasized that the directive from President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is to synchronize the country’s database, enabling seamless data exchange between agencies for passport and visa applications, BVN, NIN, and other purposes. This harmonization is expected to streamline processes, reduce costs, enhance security, and optimize the country’s security architecture.

According to him, NAF air platforms successfully engaged the targets using precision-guided munitions, destroying the structures, neutralising multiple terrorists, and dismantling key logistics facilities. This was later confirmed through battle damage assessments.

The statement added that sustained air operations have continued to weaken terrorist networks, disrupting their activities and forcing them into more defensive and unstable responses.
