Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has issued a call to those who have accused him of fraudulent academic claims, urging them to present any supporting evidence to the relevant anti-graft agencies and the Directorate of Prosecutions within a 30-day timeframe for a thorough investigation.

In a statement titled “A Moral Call to Amoral Conscripts,” released in response to a disputed online publication (Not Nivo News) challenging his academic records, Soyinka voluntarily renounced any protection provided by the statute of limitations. He insisted that the legal mechanisms pertaining to fraudulent academic credentials should be fully invoked and applied to these allegations against him.

Soyinka further declared that, if found guilty, he would willingly forfeit any titles and honors he has earned throughout his career, regardless of their obscurity or prestige.

He also stated that if these accusations were once again proven baseless, his accusers should publicly commit to a symbolic act of remorse by jumping off the symbolic River Niger bridge, with life jackets provided to ensure their safety during this ritual purgation. This statement was sent to various organizations and institutions, including the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Pan-African Writers Association in Accra, the Nigerian Association of Authors, the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm, the University of Leeds, the alleged Bristol Primary Source, and the media outlets involved.
