A bill seeking the establishment of the Federal College of Education, Ugboha, and the National Institute of Agricultural Research, Oria, in Edo State has passed its first reading in the House of Representatives.
The bills were presented by Prince Odianosen Okojie, the representative for Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency, during a session held yesterday.

After the session, Okojie expressed his satisfaction with the development and expressed hope that the second and third readings would progress swiftly. He emphasized that the establishment of these educational institutions would contribute to the growth and development of the host communities.
Okojie also acknowledged the efforts of his predecessor, Segious Ogun, in initiating these bills.
The first bill aims to establish the Federal College of Education, Ugboha, which will offer full-time courses in various fields, including Information Technology and Communication, Applied Sciences, Arts, Social Sciences, Humanities, and Management.
The second bill seeks to establish the National Institute of Agricultural Research, Oria, which will provide both full-time and part-time courses in Agricultural Sciences, offer certifications in specialized agricultural programs, and promote research in its designated field to support agricultural development.
Both bills represent significant steps towards enhancing education and research opportunities in Edo State.
