A social media post had alleged that Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS) since June 2021, was scheduled to meet President Tinubu at 11 a.m. on Wednesday. The post suggested that “documents” would be presented to Kanu for review during the meeting, and that his release process would commence shortly afterward.

In response to these claims, Barrister Ejiofor, in a conversation with SaharaReporters, dismissed knowledge of any such meeting, labeling the information as fake and baseless, likely disseminated by anonymous individuals.

He pointed out that the same false information had been posted on Facebook, emphasizing that it would be impossible for Kanu to have such a meeting without his legal team’s knowledge.

Ejiofor stated, “I was with Nnamdi Kanu on Monday, and he did not mention anything like that. There is no such meeting. It is misleading information circulating on social media, posted by an anonymous source.”

He added, “I was with Nnamdi on Monday, and our discussion revolved around his upcoming Supreme Court case on Thursday. That is what he requested me to convey to Chief Ozekhome. He did not mention any meeting, nor did he instruct me to inform Ozekhome about it. I have no knowledge of any meeting, and Nnamdi Kanu did not inform his legal team about any meeting. They insisted that the INEC chairman should be removed, alleging concerns over credibility and trust in the electoral process as the country prepares for the next election cycle.

PDP Acting National Chair Optimistic About Winning Ondo Gubernatorial Election Umar Damagum, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed confidence in the party's readiness to emerge victorious in the upcoming Ondo state governorship election scheduled for November. Speaking at the PDP headquarters in Abuja before presenting the Certificate of Return to the party's candidate, Alfred Agboola Ajayi, Damagum urged Ajayi to mobilize support from other aspirants to ensure the party's success. Damagum criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for its contentious primary process, contrasting it with the PDP's unified candidate selection. He stated, "At a time when our opponents failed to coordinate, we, in the opposition, exceeded expectations by producing a candidate without dissent. This reflects the readiness of the party to take over Ondo State." Highlighting the consensus among stakeholders that all aspirants should come from the southern region of the state, Damagum emphasized the party's preparedness and unity. He cautioned Ajayi against complacency, noting that securing the support of co-aspirants is essential for victory. Damagum stressed the importance of grassroots engagement and persuasion to ensure PDP's success in Ondo. Damagum also highlighted the PDP's internal cohesion and inclusive decision-making process, contrasting it with other parties. He emphasized the party's commitment to fostering unity and providing opportunities for aspiring politicians to thrive within its ranks.

The protest drew attention from passersby and security personnel, as the group maintained their position that electoral reforms and leadership changes were necessary to restore public confidence.
