Nigeria Labour Congress Await National Executive Council to Determine Strike Action....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The 21-day ultimatum issued to the Federal Government by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) concluded on Friday, leaving workers eager to learn the next course of action planned by the labor union.
The ultimatum reached its conclusion earlier today (Friday), but employees belonging to NLC affiliate unions nationwide have reported that they are yet to receive mobilization instructions from the NLC headquarters in Abuja.
On September 5 and 6, the NLC initiated a two-day warning strike.
Commenting on the situation, Emmanuel Upah, a representative, stated, “If you go back to the Communique issued, it was emphatic on when the ultimatum will expire; which is tomorrow but it was not emphatic on when the action will start. That leaves that at the discretion of the NEC (National Executive Council).”
While discussions between Labor and the Federal Government concerning post-subsidy removal support for workers, particularly at the federal level, have not been concluded, both government officials and NLC leaders described their recent talks as “fruitful.”
The meeting was convened following a request from the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong.
Some of the key demands put forth by NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) include wage adjustments, tax exemptions and allowances for public sector workers, the provision of Compressed Natural Gas buses, the release of modalities for the N70 billion fund for Small and Medium Enterprises, the release of National Union of Road Transport Workers officials detained by the police, and the resolution of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria crisis in Lagos, among others.
Additional demands encompass the immediate reversal of all anti-poor policies of the Federal Government, including the recent hike in petrol prices, the increase in public school fees, the release of eight months’ withheld salaries for university teachers and workers, and the rise in Value Added Tax (VAT).
NLC President Joe Ajaero emphasized Labor’s readiness to engage with the government at any time to address their demands and prevent the planned strike. However, he noted that decisions regarding the presented demands rest with the Presidency.

Kamba, who recently returned to the APC after a stint with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), explained that his decision to contest the Senate seat is motivated by a desire to build on his previous achievements and support the human capacity development initiatives of Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris.
In a statement, Kamba highlighted that his legislative experience positions him to make a meaningful contribution to national development and to ensure that his constituents benefit from his efforts in the upper chamber. “Reaching thousands of my constituents will only be possible from the Senate. I believe my experience as a lawmaker will enable me to contribute positively to the growth of this great nation,” he said.
Reflecting on his return to the APC, Kamba noted that he joined the party after evaluating Governor Idris’ performance and progress in the state. “I joined the APC at my own time, not at the expense of anybody. I am an adult and a bona fide Nigerian, therefore I can take any decision I deem fit, and immediately I got satisfied with the current happenings in the state, I joined to contribute my quota,” he added.
Before his return to the APC, Kamba was a leading figure in the PDP in Kebbi, commanding significant political influence and support. He will be challenging the incumbent Senator Yahaya Abdullahi, a three-term lawmaker and former majority leader, for the Kebbi North seat.
