Fake News Alert: Obasanjo’s Aide Clarifies Nonexistent Meeting With Tinubu At Alake’s Event....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has discredited a video that falsely portrays him as meeting with President Bola Tinubu and seeking employment during the 80th birthday celebration of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, in Abeokuta on Thursday.

In a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Saturday, Obasanjo strongly denounced the fabricated video. He clarified that the former President is currently in South Africa to attend the funeral of his dear friend and brother, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, which is taking place today.

The statement further clarified, “Firstly, I have not crossed paths with Bola Tinubu since his visit to my residence in Abeokuta during his political campaign. Secondly, I attended the church service but did not participate in the reception for Alake’s 80th birthday.”

“To provide context to the video, during Tinubu’s visit to my home last year, he found me engaged in my favorite traditional game, ‘ayo.’ In a light-hearted exchange, he humorously commented on my involvement in the game at that time of day. Spontaneously, as I was rising from my seat to welcome him and other guests, I replied in jest: ‘When I don’t have a job. If you are willing to offer me employment, I am prepared to accept.'”

“Shortly thereafter, Tinubu was heard offering a prayer for my long life as we entered the sitting room with the other guests.”

Obasanjo further clarified, “This is in stark contrast to the false narrative being propagated in the viral video, which falsely suggests that I am seeking employment or working with anyone. Those in search of working partners for Bola Tinubu should look beyond Obasanjo.”
