Hon.Elumelu Chased Away By Enraged Delta Youths For ‘Non-performance.

The Peoples Democratic Party Ward-to-Ward campaign train in Delta North Senatorial District was stopped on Tuesday by angry Oko Community youths who claimed politicians only make false political promises.

The youths prevented the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, from entering the community due to his failure to address community issues as a lawmaker over the years.

It took the senatorial candidate, Ned Nwoko, hours of effort to calm the nerves of unrepentant youths.

The youths who reluctantly listened to Nwoko lamented the community’s difficulties over the years.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the youth leader stated that the community is tired of politicians making empty promises.

“The PDP has been coming here to campaign since 1999, but after the elections, they never remember the Oko community.”
There is no road and no electricity, among other social amenities.

“We have voted for this PDP in all elections but have received nothing in return.”
Elumelu had been showing up and making empty promises.
“And he’s coming back to deceive us for the fourth time,” the youth leader said. “That’s our rage, and we don’t want such promises again.”

The youths, on the other hand, forced Elumelu and others to take an oath at the community shrine that if elected, they will address the community’s plight, particularly the roads.

Meanwhile, Nwoko assured the community that roads from Oko to Ndokwa East, as well as Isoko and Warri, would be completed.

Nwoko also promised to address the flooding problem that has plagued the community on an annual basis.
