Nigeria’s Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress, led by its standard bearer and running mate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, will win the 2023 presidential election.
Lawan made the claim in a goodwill message delivered at the Campaign Headquarters in Abuja for APC patrons and advisors.
Former governors, National Assembly members, ministers, accomplished politicians, and former senior Federal Government appointees make up the Campaign Patrons and Advisers.
In his speech, the Senate President attributed his confidence in Tinubu and Shettima to their accomplishments in their respective political careers.
“With Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, who are great Nigerians who have achieved a lot in their various political journeys,” he said, “the APC is on its way to winning the elections.”
Tinubu addressed the participants, describing the campaign patrons as “respected politicians who have worked hard for the party and sacrificed so much for the growth of democracy in Nigeria.”
This was revealed in a statement issued by Dr. Makut Macham, Director of Press and Public Affairs to APC Presidential Campaign Council Director General, Gov Simon Lalong.
Tinubu expressed delight that they are fully behind him and his vision of giving Nigeria a “Renewed Hope” to improve things.
The former governor assured them that if elected, he would do his best to draw on the experience, knowledge, and skills of technocrats from across the country to address the nation’s challenges.
Shettima applauded the audience as well, saying that the widespread acceptance of his joint ticket with the APC national leader shows that Nigerians are moving beyond ethnic and religious sentiments to consider capacity and excellence.
