Ayra Starr, a signee under Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, released her sophomore album titled ‘The Year I Turned 21’ on Friday. Wizkid took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to share his support for the album, posting the album cover along with a streaming link, and captioning it, “Superstar [love and eagle emojis].”

In response, Don Jazzy expressed his gratitude by reposting Wizkid’s tweet and adding, “Thanks Big Wiz [eagle emoji].”

This exchange comes after a previous social media fallout between the two prominent figures. The tension began when Wizkid felt slighted by a comment made by Ladipoe, another Mavin Records artist, who had seemingly mocked Wizkid’s claim that “hip hop is dead.” In response, Wizkid tweeted, “Lol, never chatting with anyone signed to an influencer. Next,” and retweeted messages suggesting Don Jazzy, the head of Mavin Records, was merely an influencer.

Wizkid’s remarks sparked backlash from various celebrities, including skit makers Mr Macaroni and Nasboi, as well as reality TV stars Doyin and Tacha, who criticized Wizkid for disrespecting Don Jazzy. Following the incident, Don Jazzy unfollowed Wizkid on Instagram, further fueling the speculation of a rift.

However, with Wizkid’s public endorsement of Ayra Starr’s new album and Don Jazzy’s appreciative response, it appears that the two may have moved past the misunderstanding. This gesture signals a positive turn in their relationship, much to the delight of their fans and the broader music community.
