The appointments comprise eight officials who served in his first administration and two new appointees.

The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Monday night.

According to him, the appointments followed the approval granted by the Ekiti State House of Assembly last week for Oyebanji to appoint 10 Special Advisers.

He also confirmed that the Assembly had approved the three commissioner-designates nominated by the governor.

Oyebode announced that the swearing-in ceremony for the new appointees would hold on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House, Ado-Ekiti, at 2:00 p.m.

The 10 Special Advisers appointed by the governor are Prof. James Olaleye, responsible for e-GIS, Lands and Survey; Mr James Folorunso, Bureau of Public Procurement; Dr John Moyo Ekundayo, Office of Transformation, Strategy and Delivery; Mr Bunmi Talabi, Bureau of Special Projects; and Mr Olayinka Oyebode, Media.

Others are Princess Adetoun Agboola, Special Education and Social Inclusion; Dr Gbenga Oyewole, Development, Planning and Budget; Mr Kayode Adaramodu, Economic Affairs and Private Sector Development; Mr Ebenezer Boluwade, Agriculture and Food Security; and Prof. Akeem Azeez, Special Duties.

The three commissioner-designates confirmed by the Assembly are Mr Dayo Apata (SAN), who is expected to serve as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice; Mr Akintunde Oyebode, Finance; and Dr Oyebanji Filani, Health and Human Services.

Oyebode said the appointments were part of the governor’s efforts to build a team that would support the delivery of his promises and strengthen governance across the state.

Oyebanji was re-elected in the June 20 Ekiti State governorship election and sworn in on October 16 for another four-year term.

On October 27, barely 10 days after his inauguration, the governor wrote to the State House of Assembly seeking approval to reappoint three commissioners who served in his first administration.

He also requested the lawmakers’ approval to appoint 10 Special Advisers to assist with the day-to-day administration of the state.

In the letter addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, Oyebanji said the appointments were intended to fill key positions early and ensure that critical areas of governance continued without disruption.

‘Atiku Won’t Pick Senate President’ – Dino Melaye Declares.

The Deputy Director-General of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dino Melaye, has pledged that an administration led by the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would not interfere in the selection of the Senate President or Speaker of the House of Representatives if elected.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Melaye made the declaration during an appearance on Arise Television, where he said the ADC would allow lawmakers to elect their leaders independently.

He maintained that the party was committed to democratic principles and an independent National Assembly.

“To start with, an Atiku presidency will not determine who is going to be the Senate president, the president of the Senate, or the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“Atiku is a Democrat. ADC is a very democratic political party. So we are going to allow the people to elect their leaders,” he said.

Melaye argued that allowing lawmakers to choose their leaders would promote legislative independence and strengthen the National Assembly’s oversight of the executive arm of government.

He said an independent legislature would be better positioned to scrutinise government activities and hold the executive accountable.

“And I told you that wherever you have the members electing their leaders, there is some modicum of independence.

“So to start with, the ADC will make sure that the National Assembly is truly independent, and if the National Assembly is truly independent, that will drive their oversight functions over the Executive,” he said.

Speaking on how government spending would be monitored, the ADC campaign official said relevant National Assembly committees would be empowered to question government officials and examine public expenditure.

He specifically mentioned the Committees on Establishment, Finance, and Budget and Planning as possible channels for investigating government spending and ensuring accountability.

“The Committee on Establishment is responsible for questioning this type of spenders because they have direct oversight function over the State House. The committee on finance is there. The committee on budget and planning is there,” Melaye said.
