2027 Elections: Tinubu Fixes Campaign Kick-Off Date, Names First States For Rally.

The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has announced that President Bola Tinubu will officially launch his 2027 re-election campaign in Kaduna State on October 24.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, disclosed this on Friday after briefing Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on preparations for the campaign.

Speaking to State House correspondents, Yari said the President requested an update on the council’s preparations and discussed the proposed timetable for campaign visits across the country.

According to him, the campaign council has agreed on its plans with the President, including the date for its inauguration and the locations for the initial rallies.

Yari said, “By God’s grace, his team, I, and Mr President himself, we have agreed on how it’s going to be done.

“We have put forward a proposal. The inaugural meeting [of the campaign council] is going to be done on the 14th of this month. That’s next Wednesday at the State House banquet hall, and by God’s grace, on the 24th of October, we’re going to do our flag-off campaign in Kaduna, inshallah.

“Then we outlined our state visits to each and every place where we will go, and the President has approved them. So we are going to hit the ground running by the 24th of October, inshallah.”

Yari further revealed that Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and Maiduguri, Borno State, would be among the next destinations after the Kaduna campaign launch.

He added that the full schedule of state visits would be made public following the inauguration of the campaign council.

“We have the timetable, and we are going to make it available after the inauguration. But this has all been understood and approved by the team of Mr President and I,” he stated.

Yari Speaks On Obi, Atiku’s Presidential Ambitions

Commenting on the political challenge posed by Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Yari expressed confidence that Tinubu would retain the presidency in 2027.

He argued that the President could not easily be defeated, citing what he described as the role Tinubu had played in supporting both opposition figures in the past.

Yari said, “We are talking of the President of the country, and this President, who, by God’s grace, Almighty God used him to support Atiku some time back, and at the same time to support Peter Obi.

“So if Allah uses me to support you, there is no way Allah will use you to bring me down.”

The APC chieftain also questioned the level of support Obi and Atiku could command across Nigeria’s different regions.

He argued that a presidential candidate needed substantial backing in both northern and southern Nigeria to secure victory at the polls.

“Can the ADC candidate today in the southern part of the country beat his chest and say he has control of one state in the South? And I don’t think Peter Obi, who used to be my colleague, can beat his chest. Can he say he has control of one state in northern Nigeria?” Yari asked.

He continued, “So this calculation shows us that even if you have control of 80 per cent of the South, if you don’t have anything in the North, you cannot make it.

“If you have 80 per cent of control of the North, if you don’t have any state in the South, you can’t make it, and that’s what it is.”

Yari referenced the late former President Muhammadu Buhari’s previous electoral campaigns, claiming that Buhari had considerable support in northern states but struggled to secure sufficient backing in the South during an earlier attempt to become president.

He contrasted that situation with Tinubu’s current political position, claiming the incumbent president has support in more than 10 states in both the North and South.

“This is calculation, it is not rocket science,” he added.

APC Says Tinubu’s Performance Will Be Central To Campaign

Yari also defended Tinubu’s administration, claiming the President had improved the situation he inherited and that the economy was moving in the right direction.

He said the APC would focus on the administration’s record rather than rely solely on campaign promises.

“So I think we have done enough that we can tell our opponents about what we did. We are not promising. We are doing it, and we are going to continue,” Yari said.

The campaign council is expected to release its detailed timetable for state visits after its formal inauguration, with Kaduna scheduled to host the campaign’s opening rally on October 24, according to Yari.

Tension In Kano As Kwankwasiyya Reveals Plan After NDC Candidate’s Disqualification.

Published

on

The Kwankwassiyya Movement has said the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will take advantage of the available legal provisions and engage the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address the omission of its deputy governorship candidate in Kano State, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, from the commission’s final list of candidates.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

It would be recalled that Kwankwaso and his principal, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, were left out of the list released by INEC. The NDC has described the omission as an error and said it is working to have the situation corrected.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, the spokesperson for the Kwankwassiyya Movement, Habibu Mohammed, said there was no clear justification for excluding Kwankwaso from the list. He added that the movement would engage the electoral commission to resolve the matter.

Mohammed maintained that Kwankwaso completed his registration with the NDC within the stipulated timeframe.

He said, “It came as a shock because there had been no issue with INEC. Kwankwaso, a former deputy governor, is registered with the NDC and met the stipulated deadline.

“Electoral provisions give candidates 14 days to seek redress if their names are omitted from the list. We will explore that opportunity and engage with INEC.

“Actually, we believe there is no particular reason for the omission. INEC itself has not advanced any reason. We believe it may be an administrative error or something else because we do not have any pending judgment or court order.

“This is a man who has already served as a deputy governor, so we cannot even question his qualification. We also believe he was duly registered with the NDC within the stipulated period.

“Therefore, the omission came as a shock. However, in politics, we have seen many things, and we believe there are always ways to resolve issues. There is also a provision in the Electoral Act.

“If he is not on INEC’s list, I believe the Kwankwassiyya Movement, being law-abiding and committed to doing things the right way, will explore that opportunity and engage INEC. We are confident that the matter will be resolved because we see no reason why it should be otherwise.”

Boniface In Trouble As Leverkusen Issues Warning After Dressing Room Walkout

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has received a warning from Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes after reportedly walking towards the dressing room when he realised he would not feature in Saturday’s 4-3 Bundesliga win over Mainz.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The 25-year-old forward remained on the bench as Leverkusen coach Carles Martínez made his final substitutions in the 84th minute, introducing Equi Fernández and Jonas Hofmann in place of Aleix García and Patrik Schick.

Boniface reportedly left the bench and headed down the tunnel after discovering that he would not be given an opportunity to play.

Martínez said he was unaware of the incident during the match but indicated that he would discuss the matter with the Nigerian international.

“If that’s what happened, we’ll speak to him,” the coach told Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, adding that decisions over team selection were part of football.

Rolfes also commented on the situation, issuing a warning while adopting a somewhat humorous tone.

“Perhaps he went into the dressing room a little too early today. It won’t happen next time,” the sporting director said.

Despite the reported incident, Rolfes praised Boniface’s improving fitness and professionalism, describing him as a valued member of the squad and training group.

The Super Eagles striker has struggled to secure regular playing time this season, making only one Bundesliga appearance so far. He played five minutes in Leverkusen’s 3-2 opening-day defeat to SV Elversberg, during which he provided an assist for Christian Kofane.

Since then, Boniface has missed out on appearances against Union Berlin, Leipzig and Mainz, while he was not involved in the match against Augsburg.

However, an injury to Kofane could create an opportunity for the Nigerian forward to compete for more playing time as he seeks to revive his career at Leverkusen.

The German club’s Europa League trip to Lech Poznań on Thursday could provide Boniface with another chance to impress, depending on Martínez’s team selection.
