Sad News: Former NADECO Leader And Ex-Lawmaker Passes Away.
Chief Ralph Obioha, a prominent pro-democracy activist, businessman and former federal lawmaker, has died.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Obioha became widely known during Nigeria’s political crisis in the 1990s through his involvement with the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), a group that campaigned for the restoration of democracy following the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
During the years of military rule, Obioha played a significant role in the pro-democracy struggle from outside Nigeria. He operated from Canada and the United States, where he worked alongside other activists to rally international support for the restoration of the democratic mandate believed to have been secured during the June 12 election.
His political career also saw him serve as a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives during the Second Republic.
Obioha later founded the Justice Party, which contested the 2003 presidential election with Reverend Chris Okotie as its presidential candidate.
He was also actively involved in the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, where he served as chairman of its Caretaker Committee during a period when the organisation was focused on advancing the interests of people from Nigeria’s South-East.
In June 2026, President Bola Tinubu honoured Obioha with a national award alongside other Nigerians who played prominent roles in the June 12 pro-democracy struggle.
The honour recognised his contributions to the campaign for democracy and the sacrifices he made during the years of military rule.

FG Reveals How $500m Was Raised For Murtala Muhammed Airport Reconstruction
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has disclosed that the $500 million allocated for the reconstruction of the old terminal at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, was sourced from proceeds following the removal of the fuel subsidy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Keyamo made the disclosure on Monday in Lagos during the 67th anniversary celebration of Aero Contractors.
According to the minister, the removal of the subsidy improved liquidity and contributed to an increase in the country’s foreign reserves, enabling the Federal Government to raise the funds within less than two years.
He said years of subsidy regimes had placed significant pressure on government finances and contributed to the deterioration of critical infrastructure across the country.
Keyamo explained that the Federal Government’s decision to remove fuel and foreign exchange subsidies had created greater fiscal space for investment and infrastructure development, particularly in the aviation sector.
He said the government had mobilised funds for several major aviation projects, including the ongoing reconstruction of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and runway rehabilitation projects in Kano, Port Harcourt and Akure.
The minister noted that the Lagos airport reconstruction project had also created employment opportunities for thousands of Nigerians working in construction and related services.
According to him, sustainable economic growth depends on continuous investment in infrastructure, while job creation can be driven by major development projects and expansion of the private sector.
Speaking on reforms in the aviation industry, Keyamo highlighted measures designed to strengthen local airlines. These include Nigeria’s implementation of the Cape Town Convention and the establishment of the International Registry system, which he said would improve Nigerian airlines’ access to aircraft leasing.
He added that the reforms were already encouraging more states to establish airlines and expand regional operations, citing the growth of routes operated by carriers such as Ibom Air and Enugu-based operators.
Keyamo also announced plans to improve connectivity to airports, including a proposed extension of the Lagos Red Line rail system to connect Ikeja with the General Aviation Terminal and the new international terminal at Murtala Muhammed Airport.

“I Can’t Date Nollywood Actresses” – Hanks Anuku Reveals His Reason.
Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has revealed that he would rather date someone outside the Nigerian movie industry than pursue a romantic relationship with a Nollywood actress.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Anuku made this known while speaking on the Honest Bunch Podcast, where he discussed his reservations about relationships within the entertainment industry.
The actor said he had become uncomfortable with some of the lifestyle and activities associated with the industry, making him reluctant to date anyone working in the sector.
According to Anuku, the prevalence of flirtation and the changing process through which some people gain entry into Nollywood have made it difficult for him to determine who he can trust when choosing a partner.
The veteran actor also expressed concerns about how individuals now secure opportunities in the movie industry.
He recalled that actors in his early years had to undergo certain screening processes before gaining recognition, but said the situation has changed, with some people now getting opportunities through personal connections with producers.
“I’m not going to go out with anyone in the industry; I would rather go look for a stranger somewhere else. There are certain things in that industry. The flirts are everywhere, and when a woman is a flirt, you’re not sure if she’s clean or not,” Anuku said.
He added, “I thank God I don’t have any disease from whatever it is. It’s a bit too dirty for me now to go out with anyone over there, because everybody can come up and say, ‘I want to be an actress,’ because she knows somebody who is a producer. If a woman is clean, you would know.”
