‘He Should Go And Prepare For Another Defeat’ – APC Tackles Peter Obi Over Winning 2023 Election Claim.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has sharply criticized Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi for claiming victory in the 2023 general election, telling him to brace himself for another defeat in the upcoming 2027 poll.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Obi, who previously ran on the Labour Party (LP) platform during the 2023 race, made the assertion during an Arise News interview, where he also outlined a new governance blueprint. During the discussion, Obi targeted President Bola Tinubu’s administration over its fiscal decisions, labeling its management of an estimated ₦16 trillion in fuel subsidy savings as reckless and detached from the economic hardships, security challenges, and infrastructural deficits facing ordinary citizens. Although official figures from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) placed him third behind Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, Obi maintained, “I did, and I will maintain that as long as I live that I won the 2023 election”, adding that election records and organizers were aware of what transpired.
In response, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda—speaking through his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki—dismissed the claim as baseless. Tooki questioned the validity of Obi’s statement, pointing out that he lacked party agents across several northern states and asking why INEC never officially declared him the winner. “He should go and prepare for another imminent loss in 2027,” Tooki stated.
Addressing Obi’s critique of the ₦16 trillion subsidy savings, the APC aide defended the federal government’s economic interventions. Tooki urged Obi to evaluate increased federal allocations to state governments, the absence of fuel queues, the frequency of industrial strikes, and the distribution of student loans via NELFUND. Dismissing Obi’s concerns regarding the funds, Tooki remarked, “Does he want the ₦16 trillion to be transported to his bedroom?”

Taking place this weekend at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, the summit will convene leaders from BRICS member states, partner nations, and other dignitaries to deliberate on pressing global issues, including economic growth, multilateral cooperation, and shared development.
For Nigeria, the summit represents a strategic opportunity to consolidate bilateral relations and advance critical national interests. The focus will be on enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, solid minerals, and technology, while also promoting solidarity among countries of the Global South.
Under India’s 2026 chairship theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,” discussions will encompass a wide range of topics, from political and security matters to economic partnerships and cultural exchanges.
Vice President Shettima is scheduled to participate in plenary and high-level sessions and hold a series of bilateral meetings with fellow participating leaders to explore avenues for deeper economic and diplomatic engagement.
Having been a BRICS partner country since January 2025, Nigeria views this status as a vital channel for engaging with major emerging economies on critical issues such as investment, development finance, and the reform of global governance institutions. This participation aligns with President Tinubu’s broader agenda to strengthen Nigeria’s international economic partnerships, attract foreign direct investment, and diversify the economy by opening new markets for non-oil sector products in areas like agriculture, energy, and solid minerals.
This year’s summit is particularly significant as it marks 20 years since the establishment of BRICS, highlighting its continued evolution and commitment to fostering practical cooperation among its growing network of members and partners.

Financial Earthquake: FCT Debt Explodes Past ₦389 Billion, Recording Over 500% Hike Under Wike!.
Under the administration of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory’s domestic debt experienced a massive surge of over 500 percent, climbing by roughly ₦328 billion within a single year to reach ₦389 billion by March 2026. Financial records indicate that the debt stood at ₦61 billion in March 2025, grew to ₦189 billion by December 2025, and then spiked by an additional ₦200 billion over the following three months.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This rapid borrowing outpaced the territory’s federal inflows. Between July 2025 and June 2026, the FCT pulled in a cumulative ₦227.4 billion in federal statutory allocations. Monthly distributions fluctuated significantly, starting at ₦16.6 billion in July 2025, hitting a low of ₦8.8 billion in February 2026, and peaking at ₦30.6 billion in June 2026. Notably, the ₦328 billion debt accumulation over the 12-month span surpassed the total ₦227.4 billion received in federal allocations during that same period. This fiscal trajectory has drawn intense scrutiny regarding the transparency, justification, and long-term repayment impact of the capital’s borrowing strategy.
In response to concerns—including claims by Senator Ireti Kingibe that loans were secured without legislative backing—Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives Philip Agbese defended Minister Wike. Speaking in Abuja, Agbese dismissed allegations of unlawful borrowing, asserting that the FCT administration has operated entirely within legal boundaries and consistently subjected its budgets and programs to rigorous National Assembly scrutiny.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) clarified that the Wednesday evening incident caused zero disruption to regular train schedules. According to the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the fire erupted around 8:30 p.m. inside the facility’s low-voltage electrical room and was swiftly contained by on-site maintenance crews.
Initial evaluations revealed that electrical supply cables linked to the control panels suffered damage, though the station’s backup solar energy infrastructure remained completely untouched. Unyimadu confirmed that temporary power has already been reconnected to the terminal’s lifts and escalators, with five out of the six amenities fully functioning by Thursday.
Reassuring commuters that travel plans remain secure, Unyimadu noted that technical specialists are carrying out deeper investigations to pinpoint the root cause of the electrical fault and execute permanent repairs. Additionally, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has been brought in to deliver vital technical assistance.
