Blistering Attack: Presidency Lashes Out, Declares Peter Obi ‘Drunk On Political Arrogance’.
The Presidency has launched a scathing attack on Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of living in a “political fantasy land” and being “drunk on political arrogance.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This follows Obi’s recent interview on Arise TV on Thursday, where the former Anambra State governor reiterated his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election and stated he would only accept defeat in the 2027 contest if the process is credible.
Sunday Dare, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communications, responded forcefully to Obi’s assertions, dismissing them as unrealistic and a “clear hallucination” given that the Supreme Court has already delivered a final verdict on the 2023 election dispute.
Dare stated, “Mr Obi is fat on ambition but drunk on political arrogance. To still insist he won the presidential election after the country’s highest court, the Supreme Court, delivered a final judgment is clear hallucination.”
The Presidency further rejected Obi’s implied authority to determine the credibility of future elections or his own concession. Dare asserted that Obi lacks the power to grant or withhold concessions, emphasizing that this power rests solely with the Nigerian electorate.
“Who imbued him with the power to concede or not? He lacks such power. Only the Nigerian people have the power of the vote,” Dare added.
He concluded with a confident prediction for the 2027 election, stating, “And in 2027, they will deliver their votes massively for President Tinubu, leaving no room for the kind of antics Obi is already front-loading.”

Reflecting on his own political journey, Fayemi recalled entering a toxic and violent political climate when challenging a sitting administration after a 2003 defeat. Despite opposition attempts to label him an outsider, his bold convictions, external networks, relentless grassroots mobilization, and an eight-point welfarist agenda proved decisive. He also stressed the importance of proactively communicating achievements across intellectual, social media, and grassroots audiences, noting that performance alone does not speak for itself. Furthermore, Fayemi highlighted tactical necessities such as managing smaller opposition parties, securing polling agents, and engaging friendly independent observer missions to navigate post-election disputes effectively.
