DEFENSIVE BLOCKBUSTER: Arsenal Shatter Transfer Market Expectations with Stunning £50 Million Raid for Ezri Konsa!

Published

on

Arsenal have struck a deal exceeding £50 million to sign Aston Villa centre-back Ezri Konsa. The England international is set to undergo a medical ahead of his move to the Emirates Stadium.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

After initial talks stalled, the Gunners briefly explored a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarell Quansah before returning to negotiations with Villa. Konsa, 28, has been a key figure for Unai Emery’s side since arriving in July 2019, making 286 appearances. Last season, he featured 48 times as Villa claimed the Europa League title and finished fourth in the Premier League.

Konsa missed Villa’s pre-season after being granted a four-legged break following his World Cup campaign with England, where the Three Lions finished third. His arrival significantly strengthens Arsenal’s defensive depth ahead of another Premier League title charge and their return to the Champions League.

Leeds United have completed the signing of Switzerland international Nico Elvedi from Borussia Mönchengladbach in a deal worth £8.5 million (£6.8 million initial fee plus £1.7 million in add-ons).

The 29-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a three-year contract, reuniting with manager Daniel Farke, whom he previously played under during the 2022-23 season. Elvedi spent 11 years with Gladbach, making 364 appearances, and played every minute of Switzerland’s run to the World Cup quarter-finals.

Elvedi is Leeds’ fourth summer signing, following James Trafford, Harry Wilson, and Tarik Muharemovic. His arrival paved the way for Sebastiaan Bornauw to join Hamburg on a season-long loan, while striker Joel Piroe moved to West Ham on a temporary deal earlier on Wednesday. Leeds kick off their Premier League campaign away to Nottingham Forest this Saturday at 3:00 PM BST.

Newly promoted Coventry City have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of teenage forward Sidiki Cherif from Fenerbahce on a long-term contract.

Born in Guinea and raised in France from the age of five, the 19-year-iond previously played for Angers before moving to Turkey, where he netted twice in 12 Super Lig appearances last season. Cherif brings valuable European experience to Coventry, having featured in both the Europa League and this season’s Champions League qualifiers.

Residents of Umunenweze village within the Okaiuga Nkwoegwu autonomous community in Umuahia North Local Government Area, Abia State, have called on the state government for urgent intervention to halt ongoing land grabbing activities.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Protest and Allegations of Illegal Sales

During a peaceful protest at the disputed Okpuijikara land, community members warned that the situation threatens imminent violence and widespread hunger. Speaking on behalf of the village, the spokesperson, Onyekachi Igbojionu, alleged that a few individuals secretly allocated ancestral farmlands—reserved for farming and future housing—to private estate developers without the community’s consent.

Igbojionu noted that these actions persist in defiance of an existing court order issued by Justice A.U. Kalu of the Abia State High Court, Umuahia, under suit number HU/163/2022. Furthermore, residents expressed deep concern that local school lands have also been targeted for unauthorized distribution.

Appeal to Governor Alex Otti

The community appealed directly to Governor Alex Otti to intervene and prevent bloodshed, emphasizing their commitment to using legal, peaceful, and judicial means to protect their heritage. Echoing these concerns, Mrs. Janeth Nwagboso stated that women are now too fearful to farm on the land, worsening local unemployment and hunger.

It is noteworthy that the Abia State government previously acknowledged receiving petitions regarding the land dispute on June 3, 2026, pledging to pursue an amicable resolution.
