The chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, has asserted that millions of Nigerians were saved from extreme poverty due to the decisive economic policies implemented by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Adedeji emphasized that the success of these reforms should be evaluated by comparing current progress against the challenging economic baseline inherited when the administration assumed office.

Highlighting improvements across multiple sectors, the NRS boss noted that state governments now possess greater financial independence to pay salaries without heavy reliance on federal intervention, while civil servants enjoy expanded access to credit facilities. He also pointed to the national student loan initiative as a landmark achievement, noting that substantial funds have been successfully disbursed to over one million students across hundreds of tertiary institutions nationwide.

Addressing macroeconomic adjustments, Adedeji explained that unifying the foreign exchange market eliminated distortions caused by historical exchange rate disparities, thereby restoring investor confidence and encouraging capital importation. Furthermore, he defended the removal of the petrol subsidy as an essential measure that paved the way for domestic refining growth, driving a sharp increase in national refining capacity.
