Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives and Labour Party lawmaker for the Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State, has praised the Nigerian Armed Forces for achieving significant operational successes under the leadership of Chief of Defence Staff, Gen.     • Joint military operations have led to substantial progress in combating terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and oil theft across the nation.

    • Enhanced cooperation among the Army, Navy, Air Force, and other security agencies has resulted in more coordinated and decisive military action against criminals.

    • The military has shifted from a defensive stance to actively engaging terrorists, bandits, and oil thieves.

    • Data from June indicates that troops neutralised 129 criminal elements, arrested 486 suspects, rescued 542 kidnapping victims, recovered 130 firearms and 5,538 rounds of ammunition, dismantled seven illegal refining sites, and recovered over 308,000 litres of stolen petroleum products.

    • Second-quarter performance reports show that 662 terrorists and criminals were neutralised, 1,084 suspects were arrested, 951 kidnapped individuals were rescued, 328 firearms and over 12,500 rounds of ammunition were recovered, 12 illegal refining sites were destroyed, and more than 464,000 litres of stolen petroleum products were reclaimed.

    • Agbese commended the humanitarian success of rescuing civilians from insurgent captivity in the North-East.

    • He called on citizens to assist the military by providing timely intelligence and rejecting collaboration with criminal groups.

    • The lawmaker emphasised that continued progress depends on sustained funding, modern equipment, improved intelligence, and better personnel welfare, pledging that the National Assembly will continue to back initiatives that strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
