Speaking on Wednesday while hosting members of the NDC Screening Committee, Dickson said the party has recorded rapid growth within a short period and has attracted many aspirants seeking to contest various elective positions on its platform.

The former Bayelsa State governor urged members of the screening committee to conduct the exercise with fairness and avoid arbitrary disqualification of aspirants.

He also stressed the need for the party to avoid divisive and rancorous primaries.

“Today, I met with members of the NDC Screening Committee, made up of party leaders, professionals, and members of the National Working Committee, set up to interface with aspirants seeking our party’s tickets for various elective offices,” he stated.

Dickson noted that the growing number of aspirants under the NDC banner reflects increasing confidence in the party as a vehicle for democratic change and national renewal.

He advised the committee to approach the assignment with wisdom, fairness, and a clear understanding of political realities across different states and constituencies.

According to him, the committee should focus on constructive engagement with aspirants and encourage consensus where necessary instead of acting as a panel for arbitrary disqualifications.

Tickets Will Be Based On Merit

Dickson further stated that the NDC would not hand out tickets indiscriminately, insisting that candidates for the 2027 elections would emerge through a transparent and merit-based process.

He said the party remained committed to consultation, competence, grassroots input, and the wishes of stakeholders.

The Bayelsa West senator also appreciated aspirants for believing in the NDC and assured them that they remain important stakeholders in the party’s movement.

Rivers Stakeholders Meet Dickson

The former governor also disclosed that he held talks with stakeholders of the NDC from Rivers State as part of efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the election season.

He encouraged members in the state to continue building the party’s structure and uphold the ideals of transparency, inclusion, and people-oriented leadership.

Dickson expressed confidence that the NDC would continue to grow stronger through the commitment and sacrifices of its members nationwide.
