Ohanaeze Mobilizes Traders, Youths For Massive PVC Registration Drive In Abia.

The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has organised a rally in Aba, Abia State, mobilising transporters, traders, youths, and other residents to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. Addressing participants, including government workers, the Abia State President of Ohanaeze, Chukwuemeka Okwuonu, said the Igbo people are preparing to make a strong political statement in 2027 that will restore respect for the region.

He urged Igbo parents to ensure that eligible adults aged 18 and above do not miss the opportunity of the voter registration exercise, stressing that the region must fully utilise its population strength to influence national politics.

According to him, “Your voter’s card is your power. The national president has made PVC compulsory for all Igbo adults. Our population is huge and we must make a statement this time around.

“We must take back our pride of place. Aba is the home of all Igbos, and that is why we are sensitising here.

“We will use our PVCs to reward those doing well in political offices and vote out those who have failed the people. Those who underestimate the Igbo nation do not know us well. When our numbers are properly aggregated, we will shake this country,” he said.

Also speaking, the President of Ohanaeze in Aba South LGA, Uche Wogu, described the PVC as the only legitimate tool for citizens to choose their leaders, stressing that political officeholders are accountable to voters.

He lamented that many youths who have reached voting age are yet to register, urging them to take part in the process to secure their future.

Wogu also called on Igbo youths to move beyond social media activism and actively participate in elections, noting that “there is no polling unit on Facebook or WhatsApp.”
