Chelsea Threaten Legal Move Over Manchester City Pursuit Of Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea are reportedly preparing to file a legal complaint over Manchester City’s approach for former head coach Enzo Maresca, unless both clubs reach an agreement on compensation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Reports in England suggest Maresca held discussions with Manchester City while still employed at Stamford Bridge, a development that has reportedly angered senior Chelsea officials. The Italian tactician is now being linked with a possible move to replace outgoing manager Pep Guardiola, further heightening tensions between the two Premier League clubs.

According to The Sun, Chelsea could escalate the matter to the Premier League for formal investigation if no settlement is reached.

Chelsea co-owner Behdad Eghbali, speaking at the CAA World Congress of Sports, hinted that the managerial change was not initiated by the club.

He said, “The change wasn’t the club’s decision, for reasons I can’t speak about legally.

“I think the reasons will become kind of clear in due course. But no, it’s not a change we wanted to make.”

Eghbali also admitted that the situation has had a negative impact on the team’s performance.

He added, “It’s a change that’s had a bit of a negative impact on the season, when you’re changing systems and personnel.

“And it’s one we’ve got to fight our way out of.”

Maresca’s exit reportedly surprised many supporters, with limited clarity provided at the time of his departure. Tensions between the Italian coach and Chelsea hierarchy are said to have escalated in December before deteriorating further into a public dispute.

The situation intensified after Maresca claimed he experienced his “worst 48 hours” at Stamford Bridge following a Champions League defeat to Atalanta, alleging a lack of support from the club’s leadership.

He was also accused of disregarding medical advice regarding player workload, while reports later emerged linking him with discussions with Manchester City and Juventus.

Maresca’s representatives, however, maintain that Chelsea were aware of his conversations with other clubs.

The football utilized by Diego Maradona to score his controversial “Hand of God” goal against England during the 1986 World Cup has been auctioned in the United States for £2.5m.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Adidas Azteca ball brought in $3.3m via Heritage Auctions on Saturday, which fell short of the estimated £7.3m ($10m) projection from experts.

Key details of the historic item and match include:

  • The Match: The ball was in play for the entirety of Argentina’s 2-1 quarter-final victory against England at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

  • The Infamous Goal: Maradona scored both of Argentina’s goals, with his first involving him punching the ball past England goalkeeper Peter Shilton—an infraction missed by the referee. Post-match, Maradona famously attributed it to “a little with the head of Maradona and a little with the hand of God”.

  • Goal of the Century: Minutes later, the Argentina captain scored a legendary solo goal, weaving past five outfield players and rounding Shilton.

  • Prior Ownership: The ball was kept for over three decades by Tunisian referee Ali Bin Nasser, who officiated the match. He initially sold it in 2022 for £1.74m ($2.37m), though a subsequent attempt to sell it in 2023 did not meet the reserve price.

  • Related Memorabilia: This auction follows the 2022 sale of Maradona’s Argentina shirt from the same match, which fetched £7.1m.
