The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has rejected allegations that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, was denied access to food, family members, and medical care while in its custody.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

ICPC spokesperson, Okor Odey, made the clarification during a press briefing on Monday, describing the claims as “false and misleading.”

He explained that the commission allows visitors into its detention facilities between 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., noting that El-Rufai’s wife reportedly arrived outside the approved visiting hours.

Odey added that on the day in question, one of El-Rufai’s wives and a housemaid were allowed to deliver food to him on multiple occasions between 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

According to him, family members, lawyers, and medical personnel are granted access to detainees under proper supervision in line with established procedures.

He also dismissed claims that El-Rufai was denied medical attention, stating that officials only required proper identification before allowing supervised entry.

Odey further revealed that the former governor had previously been granted permission to visit both his dentist and eye specialist on two separate occasions, with ICPC officials accompanying him during those visits.

The commission stressed that it would not engage in what it described as “dramatised narratives” aimed at undermining lawful institutional procedures.

El-Rufai has been in ICPC custody since February 19 over allegations of financial misconduct during his time as governor of Kaduna State.
