Action People’s Party (APP) senatorial hopeful for Imo East Senatorial Zone, Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, has expressed grief over the recent wave of violent attacks and killings in Ihiagwa and Eziobodo communities in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Amadi described the incidents as painful, disturbing and unacceptable, while extending condolences to families who lost loved ones and sympathies to those injured or affected by the rising insecurity in the area.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Cajetan Duke, and made available to journalists in Owerri, he said no responsible government should allow innocent citizens to become easy targets for criminal attacks while communities remain exposed and unprotected.

He noted that the recurring violence in parts of Imo State reflects what he called a worrying decline in governance and a failure to prioritise the safety of citizens.

Amadi further lamented that while residents continue to face fear, hardship and uncertainty, the state government appears more focused on political activities rather than addressing urgent security challenges.

He stressed that effective governance requires strong presence, responsiveness and strategic leadership, especially during times when citizens depend on government for protection and reassurance.

According to him, the protection of lives and property remains the primary duty of government and should not be compromised for political interests or distractions.

He added that the absence of proactive governance has created gaps that criminals are now exploiting to terrorise communities across the state.

Amadi called on security agencies to intensify efforts in tracking down those responsible for the attacks and to strengthen surveillance and intelligence operations in vulnerable areas.
