Onanuga Dismisses Obi’s One-Term Vow, Says It Cannot Be Trusted.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga has faulted former presidential candidate Peter Obi over his recent claim that he would serve only one term if elected President.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to a post shared on his X handle, Onanuga questioned the credibility of Obi’s pledge, arguing that Nigerians should be cautious in trusting his political promises based on his past records.

The presidential aide referenced Obi’s time in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), where he reportedly pledged loyalty to the party after becoming governor under its platform.

He also recalled that Obi was said to have assured the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu of his commitment to remain in APGA, only to later defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Onanuga argued that Obi’s history of moving between political parties raises doubts about the sincerity of his current promise to serve only a single term if elected president.

He further described Obi as a politician with shifting political alliances, insisting that such a track record undermines public confidence in his declarations.

In his words, he wrote:

“If you believe Peter Obi’s promise to serve only one term as president, you’ll believe anything. Consider his record: while in APGA, he famously placed himself under a self-curse, vowing never to leave the party that made him governor…”

He added that Obi later abandoned APGA for the PDP and has since moved across political platforms, describing him as a “political rolling stone” whose promises cannot be relied upon.

The remarks come shortly after Obi stated in a television interview that he would be willing to serve only one term as president if elected, saying his focus would be on stabilising Nigeria and addressing urgent national challenges within four years.
