Party insiders alleged that nomination forms were being selectively reserved for loyalists of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, both of whom recently aligned with the party.
According to sources, only aspirants believed to be loyal to the two governors were allegedly given access to nomination forms, while other interested contenders were sidelined.
One aggrieved aspirant, who spoke anonymously, accused party leaders of deliberately obstructing some aspirants from participating in the process.
According to Leadership, the source claimed that several attempts to obtain nomination forms were repeatedly ignored without any clear explanation.
Efforts to get a response from APM National Chairman, Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages sent to him were reportedly not answered at the time of filing the report.
While Bala Mohammed is said to have concluded his defection to the party, Governor Makinde is expected to officially join the APM and declare his presidential ambition on Thursday.
The development is believed to have heightened political realignments and internal tension within the party as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
Sources further claimed that the situation has been compounded by the party’s slow and largely manual membership registration process, which they alleged is being controlled by a small group of officials.
It was also gathered that many new members have struggled to confirm their membership status or gain access to party credentials.
Some dissatisfied aspirants maintained that despite fulfilling all necessary requirements, they were intentionally excluded from the process.
They described the alleged arrangement as exclusionary, calculated, and potentially capable of worsening internal divisions within the party.
