“Uzodimma Remains Chairman” — Uba Sani Dismisses Rumours Of APC Governors’ Rift.

Published

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has dismissed reports suggesting a deep crisis within the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), describing the recent tension among members as a minor misunderstanding rather than a serious division.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sani made the clarification on Monday during an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

The controversy began last week when reports claimed that Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, had been removed as chairman of the forum and replaced by Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, following a reportedly heated meeting in Abuja. The reports also alleged that the forum had become divided into two opposing blocs.

While Uzodimma maintained that he remained the legitimate chairman, one faction was said to be aligned with Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. However, governors loyal to Uzodimma later expressed confidence in his leadership during a meeting at the Imo State Lodge in Abuja.

There were also claims that President Bola Tinubu stepped in to help resolve the disagreement.

Addressing the situation, Sani, who serves as vice-chairman of the forum, insisted that no leadership change had taken place.

“At the moment, there’s no problem. All the governors are together. His Excellency Hope Uzodimma is the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum,” he said, adding that he remains the vice-chairman.

He stressed that disagreements are a normal part of democratic engagement and should not be overblown.

“In my own opinion, I don’t think it’s a serious issue like many people are trying to portray,” he said. “In democracy, people can agree and disagree. It was just a slight misunderstanding.”

Sani further assured that the matter had been fully resolved and ruled out any ongoing division within the forum.

“I don’t think you will hear anything again. I can assure you, you can’t hear anything again,” he stated.

He added that had there been any leadership change, he would have automatically stepped in as chairman in his capacity as deputy.

“But I can tell you, I was there. I made it clear that we are united. Everything is okay,” he concluded.
