Gbenga Daniel Raises Alarm, Accuses Gov Abiodun Of Plot To Use Violence To Intimidate Opponents.

Former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has expressed confidence that he will defeat Governor Dapo Abiodun “overwhelmingly” in the upcoming senatorial primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Senator representing Ogun East made the remarks on Tuesday during an empowerment programme organised by the Bola Ahmed Tinubu–Otunba Gbenga Daniel (BATOGD) Movement in Ijebu-Ode, where he insisted he remains the preferred choice of party members and residents of the district.

According to him, the outcome of a free and fair primary would be decisive in his favour.

“Without any doubt, in a free and fair primary, I will not just win, I will win overwhelmingly,” Daniel said.

He urged supporters to remain confident, insisting that a proper assessment on the ground would confirm his popularity.

Daniel also alleged that some individuals within the party were planning to intimidate voters and discourage participation during the primaries.

He warned that attempts to suppress turnout would fail, urging supporters not to be discouraged but to come out in large numbers to vote.

Tensions between Daniel and Governor Abiodun have reportedly intensified in recent weeks, especially after an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Ogun East where Abiodun was allegedly endorsed as the consensus senatorial candidate, while Daniel was reportedly denied access to the venue.

Speaking at the event, Daniel also accused the state government of frustrating some development projects he had been facilitating in Ogun East, describing the situation as unfortunate.

He further criticised the government over alleged shortcomings in infrastructure and healthcare delivery, questioning efforts to improve medical staffing and public health facilities in the district.

Despite the political tension, Daniel pointed to the strong turnout at the BATOGD programme as proof of his grassroots support, noting that the large crowd was mobilised within a short notice.

He argued that ignoring the views of the people could hinder the party’s progress, stressing the importance of listening to grassroots sentiment in decision-making.
