Rhodes-Vivour made the appeal in a post on on Friday while responding to concerns from supporters who questioned why he had chosen not to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) alongside Peter Obi and other opposition figures. Reacting to an emotional message from an Obidient supporter identified as @firstladyship, Rhodes-Vivour acknowledged the disappointment and uncertainty surrounding the current opposition realignments. He expressed appreciation for the continued support shown to him, the broader movement, Peter Obi, and Nigeria, assuring supporters that he does not take their loyalty for granted. The former Lagos governorship candidate also praised the commitment of Obidients during the 2023 elections and urged them to trust his judgment while giving him more time. He noted that while he understood their concerns, there were broader issues he could not yet fully explain. Rhodes-Vivour compared the present situation to his controversial departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Labour Party (LP) ahead of the 2023 elections, recalling how he was criticised at the time before events later unfolded differently. He reassured supporters that his political bond with the Obidient movement remains intact and suggested that by the end of the month, his position would become clearer. According to him, by the conclusion of the 2027 political cycle, his relationship with the movement would be even stronger than it was in 2023. His comments came in response to a lengthy warning from the supporter, who argued that remaining in the ADC could hurt Rhodes-Vivour’s political future in Lagos. The supporter claimed that the ADC may lack the political structure necessary to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. The user also suggested that former Lagos governorship candidate Funso Doherty could emerge as the preferred Obidient-backed candidate if he secures the NDC governorship ticket.
