The confrontation followed Wike’s remarks during his monthly media chat earlier in the week, where he questioned the legitimacy of the Turaki-led faction and demanded that the group prove its authenticity through transparent operations. Wike had also warned that any building being used by the faction for political activities could be sealed. Reacting to the threat, former PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary and private principal secretary to Turaki, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the faction is already functioning from a temporary office in Abuja. He insisted that Wike was fully aware of the office’s location and challenged him to act on his threat if he truly could. “We have been operating from an office. He knows the location; he should come there and take over the office if he can,” Abdullahi said. He added that although the office is temporary, it remains fully functional for meetings and party activities. Abdullahi also warned that the worsening crisis within the PDP could push the country toward a deeper state of political instability, describing it as a dangerous slide into disorder. Also reacting, the spokesperson of the Turaki faction, Ini Ememobong, dismissed Wike’s comments as unrealistic. He argued that the FCT minister was already aware that the faction operates legitimate party accounts, making threats about banking restrictions baseless. Ememobong further alleged that while the faction maintains official financial structures, individuals aligned with Wike were allegedly receiving party funds through private accounts.
