Obi Under Pressure As Former NHIS Boss Promises Tough Questions Over North Allegations.

Former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Usman Yusuf, has said that Northern Nigeria will critically examine the records of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, particularly his tenure in office.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Yusuf made the statement during an interview on Trust TV, amid recent political developments linking Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and speculation about a possible joint presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

He insisted that Obi’s past leadership decisions, especially claims relating to how northerners were treated during his governorship in Anambra State, would come under scrutiny.

Quoting a popular saying, Yusuf said, “The evil that men do lives after them. The good is often interred with their bones. We are going to interrogate and question Peter Obi’s tenure when he was governor of Anambra State.”

He alleged that Obi’s administration was accused of actions such as deporting northerners and issuing identification cards detailing their personal information and origins.

Yusuf further claimed that political figures from the North would not overlook such issues, regardless of any new political alliances involving Obi.

He referenced Kwankwaso’s past intervention in the South-East, suggesting that the North-South demographic balance would also be part of the broader political discussion.

According to him, Obi would still need to answer for his past actions if he intends to gain political support in the North.

Yusuf also dismissed Obi’s frequent references to economic success stories from countries like Malaysia and Bangladesh, saying they were irrelevant to Nigeria’s current challenges.

He argued that the North is more concerned with pressing issues such as insecurity, asking how Obi would address violence in areas like Jibia, Safana, Matazu, and Maradu.

He concluded that Nigerians need practical solutions to insecurity and economic hardship rather than theoretical models.

The controversy referenced dates back to Obi’s tenure as governor, when allegations emerged regarding the relocation of some destitute individuals from Anambra State, a move his supporters have consistently defended as administrative and security-driven rather than ethnically motivated.

“Igbos Don’t Want A 4-Year President” – Ikonne Fires Back At Peter Obi.

An All Progressives Congress (APC) Abia South senatorial district aspirant, Prince Paul Ikonne, has said that the Igbo people are not interested in a president who would serve only a single four-year term.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ikonne made the statement during a media interactive session in Abuja on Thursday while reacting to a pledge by Labour Party presidential aspirant, Peter Obi, to serve just one term if elected.

He dismissed the promise, arguing that when it is finally the turn of the South East to produce a president, it should be for the standard two-term tenure of eight years, like other geopolitical zones in the country.

According to him, political stakeholders in the South East, including governors such as Abia State Governor Alex Otti, are supporting the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Ikonne claimed that Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has also established a mobilisation team tasked with sensitising Igbo communities nationwide to support Tinubu’s re-election bid, including door-to-door and market-to-market campaigns.

He insisted that the expected votes for Tinubu in 2027 would come from Igbo populations across the country, not just those in the South East region.

The APC aspirant further argued that the idea of a one-term presidency for the South East is not acceptable, stating that such an arrangement would shortchange the region. He maintained that when the opportunity arises, the Igbo presidency should last the full eight-year cycle.

He also criticized Obi’s four-year promise, questioning its practicality and suggesting that it would waste time in governance processes.
