2027 Shockwave: AbdulRazaq Family Rift Emerges As Cousin Eyes NDC Gubernatorial Ticket.

Published

on

A fresh political tension is emerging within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State following the entrance of AbdulRahman Giwa, a cousin of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, into the governorship race under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Giwa’s decision to contest on an opposition platform has heightened speculation about growing cracks within the Kwara APC and possible behind-the-scenes political realignments ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Sources told SaharaReporters that his move into the race has added a new layer of uncertainty to succession politics within the state, particularly in the contest to replace Governor AbdulRazaq.

The development comes shortly after the NDC gained national attention following reported alignments involving former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Party insiders say the NDC has begun establishing structures in Kwara State, including a recent congress held at Noktel Hotel in the Government Reserved Area of Ilorin, where state executive members were elected and inaugurated ahead of the 2027 elections.

Posters Stir Political Controversy

Giwa’s entry into the governorship race has sparked heated debate across Kwara’s political landscape, especially within the APC, where succession ambitions have long fueled internal rivalries.

Tensions escalated further after campaign posters promoting his ambition surfaced on social media.

The posters were reportedly circulated by Alhaji Abdul-Razhaq Abubakar Jiddah, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties.

A source claimed that the involvement of a serving aide in promoting Giwa’s ambition has raised suspicions of possible tacit endorsement or internal sympathy within parts of the current administration.

Several APC stakeholders, speaking privately, expressed concern that the development could deepen existing divisions within the party ahead of the 2027 succession battle.

Renewed Claims of Opposition Links

The latest development has also revived earlier allegations of political proximity between Governor AbdulRazaq and opposition figures in Kwara State.

Last year, there were claims that the governor was in close contact with leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), sparking speculation about possible political realignments ahead of 2027.

Those rumours gained traction after AbdulRazaq and ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, were reportedly seen together at Alhamdulillah Mosque in Ilorin, raising further political speculation.

Although both the Kwara State Government and ADC leadership denied any alliance at the time, the meeting continued to fuel political gossip.

Reacting previously, ADC chieftain and former Nigerian Ambassador to Japan, Prof. Isa Gana, dismissed claims that the governor was secretly funding the party, insisting the reports were baseless.

He maintained that the ADC remained focused on building itself as an alternative platform in Kwara ahead of 2027, and described the allegations as false and politically motivated.

Otti: Is It Not Embarrassing That Illusory Self-praise Govt Is Desperately Shopping For Endorsements? – APC.

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied reports claiming that the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, endorsed Governor Alex Otti for re-election in 2027.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that the APC Publicity Secretary in Abia State, Uche Aguoru, dismissed the alleged endorsement in a statement issued on Friday, describing it as misleading, malicious, and a fabricated propaganda being circulated by the governor’s media team.

The party also criticised what it described as attempts by the Otti administration to seek validation, questioning why a government it accused of self-praise was allegedly “shopping for endorsements.”

Aguoru said the party would ordinarily not have responded but chose to clarify the matter to prevent the public from being misled by false information.

According to the statement, “Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu remains a loyal, committed, and dedicated party man, as well as the undisputed leader of the APC in Abia State.”

It further stressed that Kalu has never at any time, publicly or privately, endorsed Governor Otti for a second term.

The APC maintained that the Deputy Speaker remains fully committed to strengthening the party’s chances in future elections and ensuring victory across all positions in Abia State, including the governorship in 2027.

It added that Kalu remains resolute in his opposition to the current Labour Party-led administration in the state, which the party accused of poor governance and mismanagement in key sectors.

The statement urged residents of Abia State to remain united and continue supporting the APC, which it described as a credible alternative capable of delivering better governance in the state.
