A heated confrontation broke out during Wednesday’s plenary between Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Senator Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North) over what was described as repeated disruptions by the former Edo State governor.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that the clash escalated when Akpabio threatened to remove Oshiomhole from the Senate if he failed to adhere to the chamber’s rules.

The incident began when Oshiomhole repeatedly raised “Point of Order” while Akpabio was presenting the Votes and Proceedings from the previous sitting, disrupting the flow of the session.

The altercation is seen as a continuation of an earlier disagreement between both lawmakers on Tuesday, when Akpabio dismissed Oshiomhole’s call for Nigeria to respond strongly to South Africa over reported xenophobic attacks.

Some observers have also linked the growing tension to perceived political positioning ahead of the 2027 Senate presidency race.

On Wednesday, the situation intensified at the start of plenary as Oshiomhole continued to interject while drawing attention to amended Senate rules.

In response, Akpabio instructed Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to clarify the Senate Standing Rules to his colleague.

Kalu described Oshiomhole’s interruptions as “tautological,” but the disruptions continued.

Akpabio then issued a stern warning, saying, “If you are a soldier, you behave like a soldier. If you are a police officer, you behave like a police officer. So if you are a senator, you must go by the rules.”

He subsequently ruled Oshiomhole out of order, stating, “Senator Oshiomhole, you are ruled out of order.”

Despite this, Oshiomhole persisted in speaking from his seat, insisting on being recognised.

The Chief Whip, Mohammed Monguno, also stepped in, warning that disciplinary action could be taken.

“Senator Oshiomhole, be guided, otherwise I will invoke the powers of the office of the Chief Whip against you,” he cautioned.

Akpabio further reinforced the warning, stating, “If you become unruly, I will take you out of the Senate.”

Following the tense exchange, Oshiomhole eventually calmed down, allowing plenary proceedings to continue.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticised former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, over his repeated movement between political parties, describing the trend as a sign of weak leadership.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wike made the remarks on Wednesday during his monthly media chat, where he accused Obi of abandoning parties whenever they encounter internal challenges instead of staying to resolve them.

According to him, Obi has moved from APGA to the PDP, then to the Labour Party, and later to the ADC, arguing that each switch followed crises within the parties.

He also took a swipe at Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, questioning his role as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum.

“How can you be the chairman of one member?” Wike asked, referencing internal developments within the forum.

Speaking further, Wike said Obi’s political journey reflects a pattern of instability.

“Obi was in APGA. He couldn’t build APGA and left eventually. He came to PDP and said one man is dominating everything. He went to the Labour Party, but they had a crisis, and he ran away to ADC. Now, ADC has problems, and he has run from ADC to NDC,” Wike said.

He added that Obi’s behaviour shows he is constantly searching for personal convenience rather than building lasting political structures.
