Political Shock As Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Affirms Commitment To ADC.

Former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has reaffirmed his membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) amid ongoing defections and political realignments within Nigeria’s opposition bloc.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement released to Lagos residents and ADC supporters on Tuesday, Rhodes-Vivour said he remains committed to the party despite the current uncertainties shaping opposition politics.

He acknowledged that some political actors have moved to other platforms, describing their decisions as difficult choices made in a turbulent political climate.

“We are living through a defining moment. Our politics is turbulent, the unity of the opposition is being tested, and for some, it has become necessary to forge different paths,” he said.

“These are hard choices, made in hard times, and I do not judge anyone for the path they have chosen. We are all fighting for a better Nigeria, even when our roads diverge.”

However, Rhodes-Vivour stressed that his own loyalty remains with the ADC, which he described as the platform he has helped build and intends to strengthen further.

“I want to make it clear that I am staying in the African Democratic Congress. It is the platform we have built, the ground we have fought on, and the vehicle that can take us to victory,” he stated.

He added that his decision is rooted in conviction rather than political convenience.

Reflecting on his political journey, Rhodes-Vivour said his involvement with KOWA, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and now the ADC has always been driven by principle.

“My political journey did not begin in comfort. From KOWA, where we built from nothing, to PDP, to Labour Party — every step I have taken has been guided by one thing: conviction,” he said.

He also maintained that he has never aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, insisting he has consistently resisted offers and inducements.

“I have never compromised with the APC in Lagos. Not when it was convenient. Not when agreements were put on the table. Not when billions were placed before me. I walked away then, and I would walk away again,” he said.

Rhodes-Vivour further emphasized that protecting electoral mandates in Nigeria requires strong grassroots organisation from polling units to collation centres.

He noted that since the 2023 elections, efforts have been ongoing to strengthen opposition structures across Lagos through ward-level mobilisation and coordination at local government levels.

He was the Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos during the 2023 general elections, where he ran a highly competitive campaign backed by significant youth support but ultimately lost to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC.

His latest statement comes amid growing fragmentation within the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections, with key political figures shifting across parties including the LP, PDP, ADC, and emerging coalition platforms.

Three senior civil servants, who were transferred from the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) to the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), have reported to investigators that they were assigned no responsibilities at the office. Although the Federal Government maintains it never established the PFIPC nor appointed Adeniyi Adeyemi as its Director-General, Adeyemi faces an eight-count charge of forgery and impersonation for allegedly claiming those roles.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to police and court records:

  • Adeyemi allegedly sent a request to the Accountant-General on April 4, 2025, for the deployment of accounting and auditing staff.

  • On August 28, 2025, the OAGF posted three officials—Ojo Victor, Omeh Amarachukwu, and Wakili Saidu—to the agency.

  • Upon reporting for duty on September 8, 2025, the three officers were provided an open office space but were never given formal documentation, job descriptions, or work assignments.

  • The officials stated they had never heard of the PFIPC prior to their deployment.

  • Due to the total lack of work, the officers reported to the office only intermittently, ranging from once a week to three times a week, merely to make an appearance.

While investigators allege that Adeyemi forged government letterheads and appointment documents to secure the staff deployment, Adeyemi has denied these allegations, claiming he is being targeted by the Presidency.
