Former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has reportedly left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid growing political activity in Enugu State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Nnaji, who contested the 2023 Enugu governorship election under the APC, has recently been seen engaging in political meetings with supporters and PDP stakeholders in the state, fueling reports of his defection.

Although the former minister has not publicly announced his resignation from the APC or formally declared his move to the PDP, Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the PDP faction aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, confirmed that Nnaji has joined the party.

Political Move Amid Legal Scrutiny

Nnaji’s reported switch comes while he remains under investigation over allegations surrounding the authenticity of his University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) degree certificate and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.

His spokesperson, Robert Ngwu, did not respond to inquiries seeking clarification on his political status.

While Anyanwu confirmed Nnaji’s entry into the PDP, he said he could not verify whether the former minister had obtained nomination forms for the party’s 2027 governorship primary in Enugu State.

2027 Governorship Ambition Takes Shape

Reports indicate that Nnaji recently launched the Uche Ndi Enugu Grassroots Movement, a support platform linked to his reported governorship ambition for 2027.

He has also reportedly outlined his vision for Enugu State, including a pledge made in April that he would serve only one four-year term if elected governor.

According to him, four years would be sufficient to deliver meaningful transformation in the state.

Resignation and Ongoing Investigation

Nnaji resigned from his ministerial position in October, shortly after allegations surfaced regarding certificate forgery.

He is currently being investigated by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), following reports that he could face prosecution if wrongdoing is established.

Separate findings from an investigative panel reportedly set up by the Minister of Education also allegedly raised concerns over the authenticity of his academic and NYSC credentials.
