The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has stepped up its offensive against insurgents in the North-East, launching a series of precision airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in Sambisa Forest and the Tumbuns.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This was disclosed on Friday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, who said the missions were executed by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai.

Ejodame explained that the intensified assaults are part of a broader strategy to dismantle terrorist networks and restrict insurgents’ ability to move freely across the region.

He said, “NAF under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, has intensified the tempo of its air campaign in the North-East, unleashing sustained and aggressive precision strikes that are systematically dismantling terrorist networks across Sambisa and the Tumbuns.”

According to him, the operations were launched based on credible intelligence identifying key insurgent positions.

He added, “Acting on credible intelligence, NAF aircraft struck decisively at insurgent enclaves, obliterating hideouts, crippling logistics hubs, and neutralising scores of fighters in relentless, coordinated attack runs.”

Ejodame revealed that on April 30, NAF air assets carried out a major interdiction mission in Alafa, located within the Sambisa axis, where verified terrorist facilities and supply structures were successfully targeted and destroyed through multiple strikes.

He further disclosed that the operation continued on May 1 with another major strike on Metele in the Tumbuns after surveillance identified a heavily fortified island base housing entrenched fighters, storage sites, and defensive trench systems.

According to him, “With scores of insurgents confirmed within the target area, NAF aircraft delivered precise and overwhelming firepower, striking and decimating the location.”

Ejodame noted that the sustained intensity of the campaign is designed to maintain constant pressure on terrorist elements, preventing them from regrouping or launching further attacks.

He said, “The sustained intensity of these operations reflects a deliberate strategy of continuous pressure, denying terrorists any space to regroup or operate.”

The statement also quoted the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, as reaffirming the Air Force’s determination to sustain and escalate operations until all terrorist threats are completely neutralised.

“He reaffirmed the Service’s unyielding resolve to dominate the battlespace, stressing that operations will persist with increased intensity until all terrorist capabilities are dismantled and threats to national security fully neutralised,” the statement added.

The latest offensive comes days after an earlier coordinated airstrike conducted on April 27 against terrorist positions in Guduf, situated in the Mandara Mountains along Nigeria’s northeastern border with Cameroon.
