reports that Otti made the clarification in Abuja while speaking to journalists at the party’s national headquarters shortly after attending the inaugural meeting of the newly constituted National Working Committee led by Nenadi Usman. The governor stated firmly that the Labour Party has no intention of weakening its structure or stepping aside to give any political advantage to another party in the next election cycle. Responding to rumours suggesting the party may deliberately avoid fielding strong candidates, particularly in the presidential race, as part of a covert arrangement to benefit the APC, Otti described such claims as baseless and unrealistic. He stressed that both the APC and Labour Party are independent political platforms and must remain so for democracy to thrive. According to him, it would be illogical for a party that has spent years building its political structure to suddenly abandon it for another. “APC will remain a political party, and the Labour Party will remain so too. How will the Labour Party collapse its structure after having its own structure? “If that is your prayer for us, that the Labour Party will collapse its structure, that will not happen,” Otti said. Speaking on the party’s internal crisis and disagreements involving members who had previously backed a rival leadership, the governor said the Labour Party is open to reconciliation and ready to welcome everyone back. He noted that the prolonged leadership dispute has been resolved and urged all members to move forward in unity. Otti also revealed that some state chairmen who had earlier aligned with the opposing faction have already returned and are now working with the current leadership, a development he said reflects ongoing efforts to rebuild unity within the party.
