He made this known on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, while receiving a delegation led by Professor Randolph Charles Kent at the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

Lt Gen Shaibu described the six-year partnership as a key driver in enhancing intellectual capacity, leadership development, and operational efficiency within the Nigerian Army.

He explained that the collaboration, facilitated through the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), provides access to advanced military education and supports efforts to build a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready, and resilient force capable of operating within joint and multi-agency security structures.

The COAS stressed that modern security challenges require innovative, forward-thinking approaches anchored on cooperation, knowledge-sharing, and institutional partnerships.

He highlighted NARC’s role as a policy think tank that generates research-based solutions and promotes synergy among security agencies in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security concerns, particularly those requiring coordinated local and international responses.

Shaibu also drew attention to the growing impact of the digital information space on national security and internal stability. He called for stronger academic and institutional cooperation to better understand issues such as information warfare, malicious influence campaigns, and vulnerabilities linked to the global information environment, stressing the need for proactive, research-driven responses.

In his remarks, Professor Kent commended the Nigerian Army for sustaining the partnership, noting that the Yale-NARC African Leadership Centre initiative thrives on shared expertise and mutual learning.

He added that such collaborations are essential for navigating global uncertainties, promoting innovation, and strengthening collective capacity to address complex security challenges effectively.
