The update was shared on April 29, 2026, via his official page after a Basic Education Bootcamp held in Jos, Plateau State.
According to the minister, the forum focused on expanding access to foundational education and closing persistent gaps that have left millions of children outside the school system.
He explained that ongoing reforms under the current administration are targeting critical areas such as teacher quality, girl-child education, science and technical learning, as well as vocational and skills development.
The reforms, driven through the National Education Sector Reform Initiative, also incorporate data-driven planning and digital tools to improve efficiency and service delivery in the education sector.
Alausa added that alternative learning approaches, including digital platforms and open schooling systems, are being expanded to reach children who cannot access traditional classrooms.
He further noted that collaboration with development partners and stakeholders has played a key role in recent progress, especially in bringing out-of-school children back into learning environments.
The minister also revealed plans to relaunch the National School Feeding Programme, describing it as a key intervention to boost school enrolment and retention. The programme is expected to restart in six pilot states.
While commending the Plateau State Government for its support, he reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving both access and quality in basic education nationwide.

Speaking at a mega rally held at the Keffi headquarters of the Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone, Haruna told supporters that he would “govern with the fear of God” if elected.
The event attracted hundreds of youths, women, and various political groups who gathered in support of his governorship ambition.
He also informed party members of his intention to purchase the expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the APC governorship primaries scheduled for May 21.
According to him, his experience and achievements at NASENI, which span across Nasarawa State and other parts of the country, have adequately prepared him for the responsibilities of leadership.
Haruna pledged to run a transparent administration and ensure prudent management of resources for the benefit of all citizens.
“I’m going ahead to purchase the nomination form and will participate in the governorship primaries. You can be rest assured of a transparent administration, judicious use of resources, and protection of public trust,” he said.
He also urged supporters to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and united, stressing that progress can only be achieved in an atmosphere of harmony and stability.
According to him, the developments and investments recorded during his tenure at NASENI have contributed to both human and infrastructural growth, not only in Nasarawa State but across the country.
Haruna pledged to build on the foundations laid by past and present governors of the state, including Abdullahi Adamu, the late Aliyu Akwe Doma, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, and incumbent Governor Abdullahi Sule.
He commended ongoing efforts in industrialisation and infrastructure development under Governor Sule, noting that such continuity is vital for sustained progress.
The aspirant also promised inclusive governance that embraces all ethnic and religious groups to promote unity and development in the state.
Haruna further called on residents to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, crediting him for playing a significant role in his career progression at NASENI even before becoming president.
