2027 Election Drama: “Tinubu, Amupitan Can’t Run Polls Without ADC” — Nwosu.

The Founding National Chairman of the opposition African Democratic Congress (ADC), Raph Nwosu, has insisted that the 2027 general election cannot proceed without the party featuring on the ballot.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Nwosu made the statement on Wednesday in Abuja, adding that the ADC has already secured the numbers and momentum, which he believes position the party to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

He said the coalition within the party has recorded significant progress, noting that some serving senators from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties are already in discussions with the ADC leadership about joining the movement.

According to him, the process of rebuilding and strengthening the party has been properly handled, with the coalition acting within the right framework, while blaming Nigeria’s political challenges on what he described as a culture of impunity.

Nwosu maintained that both President Tinubu and Senate President Godswill Akpabio must be voted out in 2027, insisting that the current political structure is nearing its end.

He stated that the political environment is “dirty,” but stressed that determined individuals could still drive meaningful change, adding that even a small group of committed people could transform the system.

He further claimed that the ADC coalition has made “phenomenal progress,” arguing that attempts to undermine it would amount to weakening democracy itself, which he believes will not succeed.

Nwosu also alleged that those in power often resist change when they realise their tenure is coming to an end, saying efforts would be made to frustrate the party’s growth.

He disclosed that the party’s registration portal has already attracted over five million interested members willing to join and contribute financially, with projections suggesting the figure could rise to about 11 million by the end of the registration exercise.

Reiterating his position, Nwosu declared that neither President Tinubu nor INEC leadership would be able to conduct the 2027 election effectively if the ADC is excluded from the ballot.

“The 2027 Power Play: Why Dumping Shettima Was Never An Option For Tinubu’s Re-election Strategy!”.

Kano-based political analyst Aminu Rabiu suggests that the All Progressives Congress (APC) maintains that the Muslim-Muslim ticket is a successful strategy for the 2027 general election. The recent announcement that President Bola Tinubu has retained Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate reflects a focus on unity, continuity, and confidence within the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Strategic Stability: Rabiu argues that retaining Shettima is more beneficial than replacing him, noting that dropping the Vice President would have been “politically catastrophic” for the APC.

  • Continued Relevance of the Ticket: The party calculates that the same-faith ticket remains a viable formula that will help secure a significant number of votes across both Northern and Southern Nigeria in 2027.

  • Calculated Governance: Rabiu emphasizes that political decisions are based on strategy; if the party believed this ticket would harm their chances, they would have altered their approach.

  • Addressing Internal Speculation: Prior to the announcement, there was significant speculation, particularly among Christian members of the APC who advocated for a Muslim-Christian ticket to promote fairness, justice, and religious balance within the party.

  • Unified Direction: The decision to keep the partnership intact signifies that the APC is focused on cohesion, having moved past the period of speculation where the President, Vice President, and the party had not publicly addressed the future of the ticket.

Stanley Nkwocha, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, has asserted that President Bola Tinubu’s choice to keep Vice President Kashim Shettima on the 2027 ticket highlights his deep trust in his deputy.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Key insights from Nkwocha’s article, “2027: Tinubu-Shettima and the Politics of Loyalty, Capacity, Continuity,” include:

  • Political Strategy and Stability: By confirming Shettima’s retention, President Tinubu has eliminated speculation, minimized political anxiety within the All Progressives Congress (APC), and effectively countered opposition efforts to highlight perceived internal divisions.

  • Demonstrated Competence: Nkwocha described the decision as rooted in loyalty and capacity, noting that Shettima has shown discipline, defended administration reforms, and managed the National Economic Council (NEC) effectively without creating ambiguity regarding the chain of authority.

  • Strategic Continuity: The Vice President’s extensive involvement in policies—including economic stabilization, food security, and subnational collaboration—makes him the ideal partner for a re-election campaign, as he is already fully integrated into the administration’s governing structure.

  • Rewarding Loyalty: Nkwocha argued that this decision sends a message that loyalty and predictability are valued within the party, noting that the partnership, which combined Southern political structures with Northern influence in 2023, remains a potent electoral strategy.

  • Focus on the Future: The confirmation of the ticket shifts the political narrative from internal speculation to strategic mobilization, with the administration now focused on converting the continuity of the Tinubu-Shettima partnership into a renewed electoral mandate.
