All My Wealth Was Lawfully Earned – Malami Fires Back At EFCC Over Seized Assets.

Published

Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has filed a lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), challenging the temporary seizure of several of his properties.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He is asking the Federal High Court in Abuja to overturn the forfeiture order issued in January 2026, insisting that all the affected assets were acquired through legitimate means.

Court documents show that Malami argued the properties were purchased using income accumulated over many years, including earnings from legal practice, business ventures, and other declared sources.

The EFCC had earlier secured a court order to freeze the assets pending investigation, alleging that they may be linked to proceeds of unlawful activities.

However, Malami maintained that the agency failed to provide credible evidence linking the properties to any criminal conduct, insisting there is no proof that they were acquired with illicit funds.

He also challenged the valuation of the seized assets, claiming the EFCC significantly overstated their worth. According to him, independent valuers assessed the properties at much lower figures than those presented by the commission.

Malami further explained that his wealth was built over decades through legal practice spanning more than 30 years, as well as investments in hospitality, agriculture, education, and other ventures. He also cited bank loans, asset sales, and proceeds from personal projects as part of his income sources.

He told the court that all his earnings and assets were duly declared to the Code of Conduct Bureau in line with legal requirements.

In addition, Malami accused the anti-graft agency of overstepping its authority, alleging that officials took control of some properties without a final court ruling, and that his family members were evicted during the operation while documents were also removed.

History Made As Eagles Pick Nigeria’s Uar Bernard In 2026 NFL Draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles used the 251st overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft to select Nigerian prospect Uar Bernard, making a bold late-round move on a highly athletic but inexperienced player who has yet to feature in competitive American football.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Bernard first caught widespread attention after an impressive performance at the HBCU showcase.

According to The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman, Bernard measured 6-foot-4½ and 306 pounds, with 11-inch hands and nearly 36-inch arms at the NFL’s HBCU showcase. Feldman also noted that some observers described him as looking like a “Marvel creation” due to his rare physical build.

He reportedly recorded a 39-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-10 broad jump—14 inches further than any other defensive tackle at this year’s combine—alongside a 4.63-second 40-yard dash and just 6% body fat.

The Eagles have previously succeeded with similar developmental projects, most notably rugby convert Jordan Mailata, and will hope Bernard can follow a similar path. He has trained as a defensive tackle but may also be considered for an offensive tackle role.

Elsewhere in the draft, the Miami Dolphins selected British tight end Seydou Traore with the 180th pick, making him the first graduate of the NFL Academy to be drafted.

Traore, who grew up in London and played for the London Warriors before joining the International Player Pathway programme, was announced by former NFL Academy player Efe Obada at the draft in Pittsburgh.

Obada described the moment as symbolic, saying it represented “living proof that the dream is possible.”

Traore becomes the third International Player Pathway athlete drafted, following Jordan Mailata and Travis Clayton. During his college career at Arkansas State and Mississippi State, he recorded 131 receptions for 1,482 yards and 10 touchdowns across 48 games.

Miami general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan described him as a “raw, athletic ball of clay” with significant upside, adding that the team believed his best football is still ahead and that he was selected at strong value in the fifth round.

ADC Unveils Power-Sharing Formula Ahead Of 2027 General Elections.

.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has introduced a new power-sharing framework aimed at unifying Nigeria’s opposition ahead of the 2027 presidential election, as concerns grow over internal competition among key political actors.

The proposal, described as a “collegiate system,” is intended to move away from a winner-takes-all structure and instead promote shared leadership even after a presidential candidate emerges.

A leading figure in the party’s reform effort, Lukman Salihu, disclosed the plan on Monday during an interview on The Morning Show on Arise TV, saying it would ensure governance is based on teamwork rather than individual dominance.

According to him, “The new framework we are trying to put together is a collegiate framework. It is not a system where one person takes everything. If we form the next government, it will not be like an emperor running an empire; it will be collective leadership with joint decision-making.”

The development comes as political rivalry intensifies within the opposition, with major figures such as Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, and Rotimi Amaechi expected to contest for influence, alongside their supporters pushing different agendas.

Salihu, however, dismissed claims of division within the opposition, describing the situation as normal political competition.

“What you are seeing is contestation. When politics has no contestation, it is no longer politics,” he said.

He explained that under the new arrangement, candidates emerging from primaries would remain part of a unified team, rather than being sidelined.

“One person will emerge, but as part of a team, not someone who wins and pushes others out,” he noted, adding that he does not expect any major figure to abandon the process if they lose out.

Salihu also revealed that the party has already developed a governance blueprint based on a manifesto adopted at its last convention.

He said a 50-member committee worked on the policy document, which focuses on citizen-centred governance and addressing national challenges.

He added that internal disagreements had delayed its public release but assured that it would soon be finalised.

The ADC chieftain further stated that the party is designing a structured candidate screening process to ensure transparency and credibility in selecting flag bearers.

He also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that it has deviated from its founding principles and that internal party discipline has weakened.

Salihu emphasised that restoring strong party structures and internal accountability is central to the opposition’s strategy.

On individuals or groups not participating in the coalition, he said their absence was voluntary and respected, but expressed confidence that the opposition would eventually unite behind a single candidate ahead of 2027.

Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has confirmed that negotiations over the financial details of his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are still ongoing, but insists his attention remains fully on his coaching responsibilities.

Chelle, whose contract runs until January 2027, said his representative is handling discussions with the NFF while he concentrates on team matters following Nigeria’s third-place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco earlier this year.

In comments shared with journalist Osasu Obayiuwana on , the coach acknowledged the contract talks but stressed that his priority is on the pitch.

“Yes, there are financial issues to be discussed and resolved. But I leave them to my agent to handle with the federation. I want to concentrate on the job and the task at hand,” he said.

The remarks come amid increasing speculation about Chelle’s future following Nigeria’s recent performances, with reports suggesting interest from other teams. However, the coach maintains that he is focused on upcoming challenges.

Chelle also revealed plans to scout players in the Nigeria Premier Football League as part of efforts to strengthen his squad ahead of the Unity Cup in London.

“I am coming to Nigeria to watch some NPFL games and see some players, and we have the Unity Cup in London to prepare for,” he added.

Nigeria will begin their title defence against Zimbabwe at The Valley on Tuesday, May 26, with a potential clash against either Jamaica or India awaiting the winner.
