In an interview with Leadership Newspaper, Oyegun said public frustration has remained high since the 2023 general elections, with many citizens dissatisfied with the country’s current direction.

He noted that the discontent is especially widespread among young Nigerians, who he said have continued to demand a different style of leadership.

According to him, the mood of frustration and desire for change has persisted in many parts of the country, with people increasingly voicing concerns over governance.

Oyegun also disclosed that he is gradually stepping back from active frontline politics, saying he believes the time has come for a younger generation to take the lead.

He said his political journey has been rewarding and that he feels he has played his part in shaping and supporting political movements over the years.

The former APC chieftain stressed that the responsibility of driving the next phase of change should now rest with younger politicians who are more engaged in today’s political realities.

He added that the message sent by Nigerian youths during the 2023 elections was unmistakable, saying their demand for change continues to influence the nation’s political conversation.

He said: “When the youths came out in 2023, they made a statement that enough is enough and that statement is reverberating till today. For me, it is a mission accomplished, it is not going to be a bed of roses. For the second time, we are about to remove a sitting government again.”

President Tinubu has given full backing for the implementation of the ₦68.32 trillion 2026 budget after signing the Appropriation Bill passed by the National Assembly into law.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He also approved an amendment extending the lifespan of the 2025 budget from March 31 to June 30, 2026, to ensure completion of ongoing capital projects nationwide.

Under the 2026 fiscal plan, ₦4.799 trillion is set aside for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent spending, while ₦32.2 trillion goes to capital projects—about half of the total budget.

The focus, according to the administration, is on infrastructure development, security, and growth-driven investments aimed at improving living standards.

Speaking on the development, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga said the extension of the 2025 budget will help ensure full use of allocated funds, especially for major ongoing projects.

Tinubu directed all ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure transparency, discipline, and value-for-money in implementing the budget, while praising the National Assembly for its swift passage of the bill.
