The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has fixed May 12, 2026, for the swearing-in of its newly elected state executives and chairmen across the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The party made this known in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, who congratulated the officials following what he described as the successful conduct of the party’s state congresses nationwide.

According to the ADC, the congresses were peaceful, orderly and in line with democratic principles and internal party governance.

The party commended its members and stakeholders for what it described as a disciplined and mature electoral process, saying the exercise reflected its commitment to transparency, internal democracy and the rule of law.

Abdullahi stated that the elections were conducted in strict compliance with the provisions of the party’s constitution and other relevant legal frameworks guiding political party activities.

He noted that the outcome of the congresses represents another major step in strengthening the party’s internal structures across the country.

The statement also confirmed that the inauguration of the newly elected officials will hold on May 12, although the date may be adjusted if necessary.

The party said any change would be communicated by its National Working Committee.

ADC urged the newly elected state executives and chairmen to remain committed to the party’s ideals and vision as they prepare to assume office.

It also called on the officials to work closely with the leadership of its National Chairman, David Mark, to strengthen the party’s presence nationwide.

The party stressed that the task ahead would require unity, discipline and dedication from leaders at all levels.

According to the statement, ADC remains determined to position itself as a credible political alternative for Nigerians and expressed confidence that the new state executives would help deepen the party’s structures and engagement with citizens.

The announcement comes amid an ongoing disagreement between ADC and the Independent National Electoral Commission over the conduct of the party’s congresses and proposed convention.

INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan, had earlier warned the party against proceeding with its congresses and convention, citing existing court orders.

However, ADC rejected the warning and insisted on continuing with its internal processes.

Responding through Abdullahi, the party accused INEC of misinterpreting the Court of Appeal’s directive to maintain the status quo in the dispute affecting the party.

ADC also accused the commission of overstepping its authority by attempting to stop what it described as lawful internal party activities.

The party maintained that internal disputes do not invalidate or suspend its democratic processes.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to visit Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on November 21 for the APC rally scheduled to hold at Mapo Hall.

The planned event comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the proposed venue attracting public attention.
