The Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has responded to allegations by the Berom Youth-Moulders Association (BYM), which claimed that the group was plotting to shield a suspect arrested over a recent attack.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The BYM, in a statement issued on Thursday by its National President, Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, alleged that it had credible intelligence suggesting MACBAN was planning to secure a forged medical report to declare the suspect mentally unstable in order to discredit his confession to security operatives.

However, MACBAN, in a counter-statement released on Friday, dismissed the allegations as false, misleading, and an attempt to stir tension and misinform the public.

In a statement signed by its Plateau State Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, the group expressed surprise at the claims, insisting it has no involvement in any attempt to obstruct justice or protect criminal elements.

MACBAN reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice, and the rule of law, stressing that anyone found guilty of violence should face the full consequences regardless of affiliation.

The association also warned that such allegations could worsen existing tensions and undermine peace efforts in Plateau State, urging BYM to avoid spreading unverified claims.

It called on all parties to support dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence, while encouraging the public to disregard what it described as unfounded accusations and allow security agencies to conduct proper investigations.

Political Earthquake: APC Rejects Review Of Primary Results, Leaving Aggrieved Aspirants In The Cold.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially closed the door on any potential review of its 2027 primary election results, despite ongoing protests and petitions from dissatisfied aspirants.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Party leadership has confirmed that work on the submitted results is complete, and the final list of candidates is being prepared for upload to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. A senior official and member of the National Working Committee (NWC), speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that no changes to the results are being considered, noting that the official timeline for primaries and appeals has already elapsed.

Response to Petitions

While many aggrieved aspirants—particularly from states like Lagos, Delta, Zamfara, Kogi, Rivers, Plateau, and Osun—have demanded fresh primaries, the party maintains that most of these complaints are without merit.

  • Frivolous Claims: According to party officials, reports from the election appeal panels found that many petitions were “frivolous” or centered on issues outside the scope of the primary process, such as pre-primary zoning disputes or candidate clearance concerns.

  • Limited Impact: The party noted that the vast majority of the 109 senatorial districts and 360 House of Representatives constituencies did not record any appeals, and valid appeals did not significantly alter the primary outcomes.

Impact on Candidates

The primaries, held between May 16 and 18, saw at least 54 serving federal lawmakers lose their bids for return tickets. As the party awaits the release of INEC access codes for its nomination portal, the leadership remains firm that the announced results are final and that no further review will be conducted.
