AG Commends Supreme Court For Upholding Death Penalty In Jigawa Murder Cases.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Jigawa State, Bello Abdulkadir Fanini, has welcomed the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision to dismiss two appeals, thereby affirming death sentences earlier imposed by lower courts.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued in Dutse, Fanini said the apex court upheld the judgments of the Jigawa State High Court, as previously affirmed by the Court of Appeal, in two separate murder cases.

The cases, marked SC/CR/2020/69 and SC/CR/70/2020, involved Abdulmajid Hassan and Adamu Audu, who were convicted for murder involving stabbing incidents.

Fanini said the ruling reinforces the state’s commitment to ensuring that criminal justice is served in accordance with the law.

He also commended the prosecution team and the judiciary for their diligence, describing the verdict as a reflection of a strong and effective justice system.

The Attorney General added that the administration of Governor Umar Namadi remains committed to strengthening the rule of law and protecting lives and property across Jigawa State.
