Lagos Police Detain Officers Over Alleged Harassment Scandal.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on Monday night, gained attention after a social media user, @ejylemykel1, shared details of the officers’ actions, prompting widespread public concern.
The complainant alleged that the officers, believed to be from the Anti-Cultism Squad, stopped young people, interrogated them, and seized their phones without proper justification, describing the conduct as an abuse of authority.
In response, the Lagos Police confirmed via its official X account that the officers had been identified and taken into custody. They were presented before the Commissioner of Police, where initial statements were recorded, and the Commissioner ordered their detention pending a full investigation.
The police also reached out to the complainant, inviting them to provide further information to support the inquiry.
Reaffirming its commitment to accountability, the command assured the public that it takes allegations of misconduct seriously and will uphold professionalism within its ranks. The results of the investigation will be made public once concluded, and citizens are encouraged to report any improper behaviour by officers.

Speaking to journalists, he explained that he only gets involved in situations where he believes someone is being treated unjustly, and withdraws once that situation changes.
According to him, his intervention is always focused on defending people facing oppression or unfair treatment, and once that issue is resolved, he moves on to other matters.
Sowore also stated that there are certain people he would never turn against—especially those he has previously supported in the struggle for rights and freedom. He said he would not engage in conflict with such individuals, even if disagreements arise later.
Reaffirming his long-standing activist position, he said his mission has always been to help others secure their freedom, adding that his commitment to that cause remains unchanged.
