PDP Presidential Aspirant, Gbenga Hashim Resigns From Party.

Published

Presidential aspirant on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, Gbenga Hashim, has officially resigned from the party, citing deepening internal divisions and failed reconciliation efforts.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Reports indicate that Hashim made the announcement in a letter dated April 4, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Usuma Ward in Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, with immediate effect.

In the letter, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP said the party has been mired in persistent crises for over a year, leading to the formation of rival factions. He described the situation as a serious setback for the party’s unity and its effectiveness as a strong opposition.

Hashim noted that the PDP has been grappling with “persistent and unending crises,” resulting in a split between two dominant camps. Despite multiple reconciliation attempts alongside other party stakeholders, efforts to restore unity had failed, weakening the party’s cohesion and national influence.

He also alleged that some of the internal conflicts appear to have been orchestrated to undermine the party ahead of the 2027 general elections, potentially preventing it from fielding credible candidates or relegating it to a passive supporter of the ruling government.

“I cannot, in good conscience, be complicit in actions that undermine democratic values,” Hashim stated, adding that staying in such an environment would betray his personal convictions.

The politician further expressed concern over Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges, including insecurity, loss of lives, and widespread hardship, saying it would be inconsistent with his principles to remain in a political setup that seems to legitimize these conditions.

Hashim described the current state of the PDP as deeply disappointing, blaming internal divisions and personal interests for the decline of a party that was once a formidable political force.

He concluded by affirming his commitment to working with patriotic Nigerians to prevent the emergence of a one-party state and to build a new political order centered on security, justice, and economic prosperity.

Oloyede said many of the issues recorded during the mock exercise were due to poor assessment of centres by some technical officials.

He further stated that incentive packages would be awarded to teams that perform exceptionally, particularly in handling exam materials and submitting timely reports.

Reiterating JAMB’s zero-tolerance stance on malpractice, he warned candidates against bringing prohibited items into examination halls.
