Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has alleged that a factional chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala, now moves with heavy security convoys comparable to those of a state governor.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Atiku claimed the sudden upgrade in Bala’s lifestyle is being backed by the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He made the allegation during an interview with DW Hausa, where he also linked the ADC’s internal crisis to external interference.

According to him, the ruling party is uneasy about the ADC’s growing popularity nationwide, noting that despite the ongoing crisis, Nigerians continue to join the party in large numbers.

He argued that certain forces have begun interfering because they see the party’s rising influence as a political threat. Atiku further alleged that some individuals within the party had been influenced to serve these external interests.

Questioning Bala’s resources, he said the level of security, vehicles, and accommodation associated with him suggests outside backing. He added that there is evidence pointing to such support, claiming Bala now operates with the kind of presence typically seen around top government officials.

Atiku also raised concerns about Bala’s movements, alleging that he has avoided returning to his hometown since the crisis began.

Despite the challenges, the former vice president insisted the opposition remains strong, even amid the reported actions of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He maintained that the issues within the party are largely driven by external efforts to weaken it.

He added that the ADC continues to attract young Nigerians, emphasizing that the party is focused on giving more opportunities to youths and women to participate actively in politics.

President Bola Tinubu is expected to visit Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on November 21 for the APC rally scheduled to hold at Mapo Hall.

The planned event comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the proposed venue attracting public attention.

Addressing the issue, Makinde maintained that public facilities belong to the people of Oyo State and should be managed transparently and fairly, without political bias.

According to him, “public assets belong to the people of Oyo State and must be administered in a manner that is transparent, equitable, and devoid of partisan considerations.”

The governor stressed that his administration remains committed to ensuring a level playing field for all political stakeholders, irrespective of their party affiliations. He added that democracy thrives when political parties have equal opportunities to engage with voters within the confines of the law.

Makinde further explained that access to government-owned facilities is subject to established procedures and regulations designed to ensure proper use, maintenance and public order.

He stated that any political party or organisation that meets the stipulated requirements should not be subjected to discrimination or unfair restrictions when seeking to use such facilities.

The governor also urged political actors to conduct their activities peacefully and responsibly. He called on relevant authorities to handle requests for public facilities professionally, fairly and without prejudice.
